Bob, Steve, and Ken have been so good to work with over the years. They have done numerous projects for us and I would never recommend anyone to any company but AET. By far the best HVAC shop in Idaho. Fair, honest, & professional. Outstanding technicians and their foreman Brian runs his crews very professionally, as well.

Unprofessional, rushed, and showed up a day later than the dispatcher promised. I will start by at least giving credit to Ken for fixing our heating problem (temporarily), but he did not do a thorough look to see if there was anything else wrong. Even the fix that he made was poor as he didn’t slope the pipe the way it should have been. We will likely need it worked on again in the future. We had a contractor come in a few days later who was doing duct work for us point out that there was a drip which was pooling water near and partially into our filter. Based on the rust, the drip was likely happening for several years. I called Ken to tell him they found this since at the time Ken seemed reasonable (at first) and we didn’t even waste 20 minutes of his time. I explained this to Ken and before I could finish, he raised his voice and accused me of calling our duct work people to check his work, which doesn’t even make sense. He proceeded with an angry voice that the duct work we were having done was tied into us not trusting his work and asked why they didn’t fix the furnace themselves. This attitude indicates that once Ken fixes a problem, it’s no longer his concern, whether there is still another underlying problem or not. According to Ken, the duct work people were supposed to fix a problem that was in his scope of practice, not theirs. I fully expected to pay for replacement parts if need be, but Ken continued to talk to me in a rude tone like I thought the work he does and the parts he uses are free. Instead of actually listening to the problem from the get go, he created a narrative in his head about what the call was for, was very rude about it, instead of actually trying to be nice to a customer who is paying his salary. 15 minutes for $100 means he will only fix the first problem he finds and won’t do any further checking so he can get into his next job and do a subpar check over as well. Also, the dispatcher promised a tech would be out on Halloween. We could have gotten someone else that day. We wanted it done quickly since the house was at 56 degrees but he was also recommended to us, so we thought we would trust the dispatcher and wait. We called back 3 times because she was dishonest about how much time it would take, continuing to tell us “he’ll be there shortly” or “today.” 24 hours later he finally showed up. Bad recommendation from a neighbor. There are cheaper options. There are more professional options. There are people who listen to your problems and don’t talk over you when they are angry. Save yourself time, money, and headaches and explore the other options in town first.

I called around to make a few inquiries. I couldn’t recommend this place enough if I tried. I got a quote for repair from another company, which misdiagnosed the issue. Ken came out to inspect the unit and found that the motor wasn’t bad; it had just seized. He was able to oil it and break it free from last winter’s bondage. Even if it only lasted another season, it was well worth a second look from a trained observer like Ken. The cost for repair?… a service call. This is a company that is ethical, which means even though my unit is already at end-of-life, I’ll be calling Ken at Air Exchange first when it’s time for a whole new system! Thank you, Ken!
