I wish I could share the same sentiments as others who rated Frye well. We had what I thought was a great walk through with the Frye team to detail the home addition project we are seeking. They walked us through next steps and the process to get started which was that, they would put together an initial design and quote and then reach out to an architect to draw the plans. They told us it would be a couple hundred dollars (can’t recall exact amount) for the architects drawings. The owner specifically mentioned that they have in-house designers who create initial sketches which lowers the price a little when engaging the architect for the drawing. We even talked timing and they forecasted this could be done by the holidays if we were ready to get started pretty quickly. After not hearing anything for several weeks, we reached out and finally heard back from them via e-mail and were told that WE needed to call an architect to draw plans and bring them to Frye. We called them to clarify the disconnect. We pointed out that this was not what we discussed and the entire reason we engaged them is because this isn’t our area of expertise and we would not even know where to start when directing an architect. Indeed, their website even states they will put together the initial design. It is clear that they were just not interested in doing the work. Which is fine, but I do wish they would have communicated such from the start. As a professional courtesy, they could have simply stated that the project did not fit what they had people to tackle right now or whatever the case may be. Feel free to waste your time and wait around at your own risk.

If I could give 10 stars I would. The Frye team is totally amazing. They did a major over-haul on our historic house when we bought it (see after on left and before on right below). We knocked out a back wall, added a bathroom, redid the kitchen, installed two bathrooms, and restored the front of the house, replacing the 1950s style metal railing with recreated wood pillars consistent with the original style of the house. I was so intimidated by the project, but it turned out to be painless and often even fun. The renovation was completed ahead of schedule and below budget. Having worked with other contractors before I was totally amazed how different this experience could be. Everything was so organized and well planned, the communication was great, and every single person working for Pam Frye seems to enjoy and take great pride in their work. We love our renovated house so much and I wake up every morning grateful that we made the decision to do this. If you’re waffling, know that you will be in great hands with Frye! Go for it!

Frye Build & Design was a delight to work with on our total renovation and addition. They were responsive, timely, efficient and their subcontractors were meticulous. We could not be happier with the outcome.

Renovation is a scary word. At least for us it was. Certainly not anything we ever entertained for ourselves. Yet somehow we found ourselves doing a complete, to-the-studs reno (with large addition. Think bigger than the existing house 🫣) of a nearly 100 year old home. Let me tell you, Pam and team at Frye Build + Design made it such an incredible experience…..I would actually do it again 😱 Not only did the entire process not kill me, it was actually so much fun! Their attention to detail was awesome, communication was fantastic, and every member of the team seemed to really care about our home. They were so intentional. We are in the home furnishings/interior design business and candidly, we are particular. Stacey “got” me from the beginning and our design ideas sync’d up during the entire project. I never felt like I was a bother if I asked a million questions or changed my mind. We have been in our home for about 1.5 years now and we love it. No regrets on design choices or finishes, we love everything as much now as we did when we were designing it. If you are thinking about renovating any part of your home , you’d be remiss to not reach out to FB+D.
