If I could give ZERO I WOULD.. thank goodness I know enough about construction to have had this turn out OK. We contracted Thomas in March of 2022. We paid 8K for engineering drawings (that were never reviewed or signed off by us) but yet we chose to move forward with his contracted price. (Bad choice in judgement) I gave him our ORIGINAL HOME SCHEMATICS AND ALL ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS WHICH HE LOST WITH THE MANY HIRES AND FIRES HE DID. The designers we met along with several other project managers, were a multitude of people we never saw again. I paid for a designer, yet I finally went to a store and chose my own material WAY UNDER BUDGET (which meant more overhead profit for West Coast) We had so many things budgeted in to this 80k bedroom remodel project that he tried to make change orders for and charge us extra for like venting a bathroom fan to code. I caught too many errors to count on our drawings during construction (that were never reviewed) we needed a handicapped bathroom but yet the doorways were built too small. The ten months of Ridiculousness that were supposed to be 2-3 months is too long to put in a review. He then tried to get final payment when the permit wasn’t even closed out and put a mechanics lien on my home fraudulently signed by his office person. This has all been turned into the states attorney. Buyer beware!

My parents are in the very beginning of a remodel and I know Tom is the guy to speak to. He is professional and on time. Not to sound cheesy but I trust him with the lives of my loved ones.

We contacted Westcoast Design Build based on consistently outstanding reputation and also referrals from others. in our community. Thomas is highly experienced in all types of work. He brings brings together the right (and proven) resources for any projects, provides excellent communication and updates, and is easy to work with. While our project was a small one, he’s the type of professional you almost wish you had more projects for! And when we do, we will call him again.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. From start to finish WestCoast Design’s leadership, communication, and most of all, quality of work, was a complete disaster. Owner Thomas cuts corners wherever possible. Every week we were met with a new excuse regarding our project and the countless outstanding items which needed correction; Improper flooring installation, improper baseboard installation, incorrect measurements, misleading “design software”, incapable of replicating simple visions for our design. Absolutely ZERO creativity. During flooring and baseboard installation I had expressed that the work looked extremely amateur. I was told that once it was caulked I “wouldn’t notice a thing”. It looked even worse after caulking. Being new to all of this, I called two separate third party remodeling companies in to take a look. I was incredibly embarrassed when one came in and LAUGHED at the work and said “I hope you haven’t paid them for any of this yet.” They were absolutely horrified and felt terrible for us. The other company said they were unsure if it was even fixable (without fully replacing most/all of it). They said they didn’t feel “right” putting their names on something that was done this poorly. I gave both companies WestCoast’s name and the names of their leaders. They said they will make sure to tell other homeowners to stay away from this company – it was the least I could do to help others in our community not make the same mistake I made by hiring them. When the flooring and baseboard worker was finally fired, my “project manager” (who was also later fired) told me the worker was actually not an experienced carpenter but an electrician. He told me the worker hired to “fix” his mess was a tile layer. Why can’t WestCoast hire experienced workers? I could go on and on about my experience but it truly brings on a headache so I’ll stop here. The owner will comment on this review anyway, and blame everything on supply chain issues, COVID-19, the pandemic, short staff – the list goes on and on. He will probably also comment trying to justify our experience by saying he gave us certain services/items for “free” as a curtesy. When in reality, that is not true. Don’t trust them.

We had a new kitchen put in. Never did we meet with a team of designers, etc as the company shows on their facebook page. When they came in to demo…no protection on our tile floor and they broke several tiles, no sheeting put up to minimize dust as they said there would be very little dust…NOT TRUE.. Painted over wet drywall, did a terrible job on the outside of house with stucco..we had to fix it. Cabinets were measured wrong next to the hood – hood almost did not fit and as it is there should be alot more room – hood abuts the side cabinets. Workers would show up and stay for a couple hours, one of them would leave to pick something up and be gone for 2 hours or more. Granite was installed but never sealed ( one of the team told me it was – I had to contact granite people who then came and did seal it) Dumpster stayed in driveway for almost a month.. Several times someone was to get back to us on a problem..never happened…AND NO ONE HAS EVER taken responsibility for all the missteps. There were so many issues, hard to list them all and we cannot in good faith recommend using this company.

Thomas and his whole crew were amazing! All of his associates were polite and professional. They were always on time and were all artisans. Thomas and Garrett always answered their phone when we had questions. The results are amazing!
