We are on embarking on our second remodel with CRD. The first project involved raising the house and an ADU in the basement. It was a huge undertaking and long process from design to wrapping up constructions. We felt we came to know many of the CRD team. What most impressed our family was how smoothly the communication with CRD went; this is followed very closely by their stellar work. Their designers and craftsman worked hard to preserve the character of the house. We can hardly remember what the house was like before. This time around, we are having a bathroom updated through their “home services” team. It’s a much smaller project, yet the communication has been great. We feel equally confident in our choice of CRD and are looking forward to someday soon, having a much nicer bathroom.

We are looking for quotes for a simple “rip and replace” small bathroom remodel. They gave us a quote for 70,000. We decide not to go forward.

Ever since we purchased our house about 7 years ago, we’ve had a concrete garage with a leaky roof which led to spalling concrete in the roof and puddles of water on the floor the garage in the non-summer months. We’d had a revolving door of contractors who had come in and either sold us on bogus fixes or just told us they weren’t willing to do what it took to solve the problem. Enter CRD to save the day. The guys at CRD and I really got to know each other over this project and they did an amazing job listening to my (many) concerns and either assuring me that I didn’t need to be worried or addressing them, even when they were nitpicks. Not only did they listen to me, but they were always super quick to respond and would let me know when things weren’t going to happen according to schedule. I always felt like I was part of the process. A few months after we finished the project, I thought the garage was leaking again and the CRD guys helped me get in contact with an expert who helped me figure out that this new leak was just a condensation issue that eventually went away. They really never gave up on making me happy. I want to give a special shout-out to Matt Scully who personally invested himself in this project and stood by his word that he would solve this problem for me. Every step along the way, he made sure that I was happy and even checked in every so often after the project finished to make sure things were still working for me. Trevor Dodd also was a huge help, especially in solving the condensation issue that cropped up. I’d work with these guys again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much CRD!

Gave me a bid of 100k without visiting my house and seeing the problem even though it was just blocks away. Got a call from an inside sales person who said they looked at my house (listing value) and estimated from there. Not impressed.

The CRD team did an absolutely incredible job with our 2nd floor home addition and basement remodel. We kept waiting for some major issue to come up but it never did. They were all professionals, handled everything on time and on budget, and worked together as a team very well. The carpenter assigned to our project did an especially excellent job caring for our home like his own. The remodel and new floor addition turned out better than we could have imagined and we love the new space. Thank you so much to all of CRD!

From start to finish, CRD was phenomenal to work with, and they went above and beyond in designing and building the addition of our dreams. It was a massive undertaking, and we essentially doubled the size of our home, taking us from a single–story 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, to a two-story 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom. We can’t imagine doing the project without them, especially with all of the structural engineering magic they pulled off. We first engaged CRD in early 2018, and while we already had a rough idea of what we wanted, they were able to refine our rough idea and help us realize how to better utilize the space. The design process took approximately a year and involved a lot of back and forth. It felt long, but by the time construction started, we had nearly every material, tile, and fixture pre-selected. CRD provided us with a lot of resources, including 3D models, blueprints, and an incredibly detailed document that laid out nearly every detail of our project, including a large gantt chart with dates and completion times. They told us that construction would take 5 months, starting in June of 2019, and ending in November. It seemed like a bafflingly short timeline, and at no point during the design phase did we take it seriously. We had said that it would be nice to host Thanksgiving in our new addition, but given everything we’d heard about construction time frames we fully expected our home to still be under construction in January or February, especially since we planned to live in the home during construction. But flash forward to November 2019, and somehow, amazingly, we were hosting Thanksgiving for the whole family in our new addition. That’s not to say everything went completely smoothly for us. Shortly after construction began it was discovered that the front of our existing home was a full 1 ½ inches lower than the back, due to the chimney pulling the foundation down over the past 90 years. On two separate occasions we woke up to waterfalls of rain in our living room. The demolition company they had been working with for years quite abruptly ceased to exist without any warning to their scheduled clients. But every time a wrench was thrown, we were able to sit back calmly with the knowledge that CRD would handle everything, and they did. Our lead carpenter, Darryl, was especially committed to making everything perfect for us, and more than once he surprised us by tracking down better solutions than we had been able to come up with to make the home perfect. As you might expect, the project was expensive, and it ended up being quite a bit over the initial quote we received. Many of the additional expenses were a result of change orders that we felt would be better to take care of during the construction, but there were also a few surprises that popped up as a result of working on an older 1930’s home. In each of these cases, the added expenses were clearly communicated, and we were given options for how to proceed in each case. We had weekly meetings in our home to go over what each week’s focus was going to be, and it also helped us plan for what to expect each day when we arrived home from work. Living in the house during the addition was challenging, but also exciting, and the entire crew was very respectful of our space and kept things very clean. When all was said and done, it probably would have been less expensive to move to a larger home, but besides loving our property and the surrounding neighborhood, we were able to design the new space to our exact wants and needs. We plan on living here our whole lives, so the additional expense feels very much worth it, and you can bet that any future major home renovation projects will involve CRD’s wonderful team.

We used CRD for our whole home remodel from September 2020 to March 2021. We interviewed several contractors and design/build firms and were sold by CRD’s process documentation and step-by-step approach. Everyone we worked with (our designers, our carpenter, production supervisor, office staff) were all so friendly, competent and professional. It was as painless an experience as possible, given that we remodeled our whole house while living in it. The team went to great lengths to accommodate us while living in a work site, including zip walls galore, a make-shift kitchen setup, scheduling, and daily clean-up. The designers listened to what we wanted to achieve and turned a vision in our heads into a real design plan. Our lead carpenter cared for our old 1904 home like his own, and perfectly blended the old and new. His attention to detail and craftmanship were inspiring, and the results are amazing. Billing was straightforward and transparent, and change orders were fair. We love our new old home! It combines the best of the old (fine details and character) with a new, glorious kitchen and primary bath. Thank you, CRD!
