This company was recently contracted to complete some work we needed done on a house we were purchasing. Long story short, the crew are all very nice people, but the work quality seems to be to the lowest quality.

I was a electrical contractor for K & B . They waited until I was done with my work then told me to leave the job so they don’t have to pay me . The worst contractor I ever worked with . J LAHR ELECTRIC

If I could give a negative star, I would! We hired this company to do some work on a remodel because, while I can do all of the work myself, I’m a full-time student and a full-time employee, so I have very little spare time. We were hoping to have hired a company with integrity to do the most time-consuming projects leaving us the simpler projects like painting the walls. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. While the demo and framing work performed by K&B is stellar, everything else is complete garbage. When we originally talked to them, we told them we would do certain parts of the work to keep the costs down, like texturing and painting the drywall. We also, thankfully, brought in our own plumber and electrician, which was much cheaper then K&B’s quote for the same work. Here are *some* of the issues we’ve experienced: 1) We needed our stairs retreaded. I showed the stairs and explained what needed to be done (sanding the stairs to level and cutting off the lip before installing the retread). I also wanted the new risers to be painted. I got a great quote. When they began work, it was realized the existing stairs could be removed and replaced completely (much easier than sanding each step and cutting off the lip). Because the work was simplified, I asked if I painted the risers, if we could have an additional pony wall installed in the bathroom. Her response was no, the work had been more complicated, I could paint the risers and we would leave the same cost, and there would be an additional cost for the pony wall. Needless to say, this project was removed from the list. 2) K&B doesn’t know the difference between taping/mudding the drywall seems and the finished texturing, as they didn’t include the taping/mudding in their quote because I said I would texture/paint the walls. Because it wasn’t listed, it would cost more to do that step. Needless to say, I decided to do this myself. 3) The drywall had 1/4″ to 1/2″ seams between sheets of drywall. I’m not sure how this could happen since you cut the drywall and screw it into the wall next to the other piece of drywall. The work was definitely not professional and required extensive time to repair these problems before the taping/mudding could begin. This, alone, pushed our overall project out more than a month. 4) We went from a bathtub to a walk-in shower. When the tile was installed, no level was used. There isn’t a single place where two pieces of tile are level with each other. The floor is uneven and when we took our first shower, water ran to the back of the floor. When they came to see what I was complaining about, they didn’t bring a level then. She asked if we wanted them to rip it out and fix it, I said no because, quite honestly, if you can’t do the job correctly when you’re being paid, why would I assume you’d do the job any better when you aren’t. 5) The shower drain is inset into the tile and is completely grouted in. There is no way to clean the drain. When this was presented to them, they gave the excuse that the drain is only flush with a pre-fab floor and that she’s never cleaned a drain. This was a lie, as I’ve had several professional tilers in that have said the opposite. The only reason for the drain to be installed that way is someone didn’t know what they were doing. 6) Sealing the grout was not included in the quote and would cost an additional fee. Unfortunately, this is another example of the lack of knowledge they have in tile. Sanded grout was used on the floors and walls. Water will, without a doubt, seep behind the tiles and start to weaken the mortar. Tiles will, without a doubt, start to pop off. Needless to say, I did this myself. 7) We were hit with an additional $1500 “administration” charge because we did certain stuff ourselves. She knew this when we originally talked, so this, to me, shows a distinct lack of integrity. Her quotes covered the tasks to begin projects, but if we wanted them completed (or completed correctly), that would cost more. To me, this shows a lack of integrity and honesty.
