I paid for a quote that was left incomplete. This was in December. After around two months, the quote remains incomplete, and most of my attempts at communication have failed. When I did enter into communication, I was given a day that workers would arrive to complete the quote and potentially proceed on one or two of the repairs/renovations. I took off work on these days and the workers did not show up. Update: I plan to follow up on Ithaca Construction’s response below to resolve the issue.

I would like to share the experience I had with this company. It is in line with some of the experiences that other people had with Ithaca Construction and I think my summary will probably cover most. I would certainly not recommend doing any business with Ithaca Construction but stick with me please, it’s a telling, informative, and frustrating story that I will share below. So here I am with a need for a deck repair. I reached out by email and pretty soon got a one line response (no greeting, no name, but ok…) just asking me when would be a good time for them to come and take a look. I responded immediately with a proposal and again pretty quickly got a response with an availability window that was completely outside of my initial proposal. Anyway, I thought in order to get the ball rolling, I would agree to the proposed Thursday morning at 9am and took a few hours off from work to be available. On the day, after an hour long wait and no sign or message from the contractor, I tried to reach out. The phone number provided on the homepage didn’t work and also didn’t allow for leaving a message (this was by the way the case every single time I called this company over the last few weeks!). So I decided to write a text also without success. Finally, after writing an email and another half hour wait I got a response telling me that the quoting guy, who was supposed to come to the house had car problems. This, just to find out later in the day, that the quoting guy actually had a day off…anyway, back to the topic. So after several emails back and forth, it was clear that they wouldn’t show up and I had taken hours off from work for nothing. It also took them several hours to actually call back (and it took the quoting guy on his day off to organize the folks that were actually supposed to work that day). I finally got a call and was able to get them to come to the house at 3pm that same day. Of course I had to cut my workday short in order to be there again. The guys showing up were nice, took a few pictures and departed assuring that I would see a quote very soon. Fast forward to today: I have been waiting for 3 weeks, wrote several emails, called the dead phone, and now I’m writing this review to let you know that this company is not interested in your business, is a pain to communicate with, and may just write me a quote in order to get this bad review off the internet. Again, I would certainly not recommend doing any business with Ithaca Construction! I would understand if they are not interested or don’t have the capacity to do the needed deck job for me but they didn’t even extend the professional curtesy to tell me as much.

Update: I was going to delete this, but I think it’s better that I leave the original review up to show that the company is responsible and cares about its work. After, getting in contact with Maurice, they sent out an excellent (different) team of workers to fix my ceiling and I can’t even tell that it had ever been worked on. They were communicative and professional. Now, I understand why they got so many good reviews. They earned them and the latter work was more indicative of that. I’m not sure what happened initially, but I’m glad that they took responsibility for it and fixed the problem. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again. See a before and after photo below. OLD REVIEW:These guys are shady. I hired them to repair some drywall. The price was high, but they were nearby, and they said they could start the next day, so I was like fine. Let’s get it going. They did a really shoddy job on the drywall. Left spaces of over an inch in some places. The tape fell off after they left the first round. Fell off! In addition, I’ve been waiting over a week for them to come finish the job. I’ve called and they don’t pick up. They did not, however, hesitate to cash my check without the job even being finished. If you look at all their positive reviews, they all occur within the same 2 or 3 week period. Nothing really in the last couple months. It’s a scam job for sure. Reviews don’t occur like that. I’m still waiting for them to come and finish the job. One week and counting. I’ve called the last two days in a row and they don’t even pick up the phone.

I’m not sure where they get any good reviews. They are not professional and do not respond to calls. They will tell you they can do the job, but will not complete it. Then they send you a bill upon further inspection, the job has not been completed. They tell you they will call you back, but don’t.
