We wanted a complete kitchen renovation in our 1940s bungalow and had a great experience with Detroit Build and Whiski Kitchen. We had a baby and due to the timeline/circumstances could not follow through on the project, but it was still important to me to leave feedback based on our experience up until that point. We had an initial consultation and worked through the planning process. The team was responsive, thorough, and clearly very experienced from both a design and construction perspective. The plans presented were beautiful and it was a very collaborative effort with choices presented and our needs taken into consideration. Communication was great- there was no wondering when they would show up or respond. I would highly recommend Detroit Build and Whiski kitchen and hope we have the opportunity to work with them in the future.

I signed a contract with Renaissance Restorations in December 2022 for a enclosed porch remodel. They started the job in June 2023, which I understood considering the weather needed to be warmer to pour concrete. Here we are, a year later, and my porch isn’t completed. First, the team of men sent to demolish the old structure was so reckless. In the process of using the saw to cut the old awning off, they cut through my gutters that were done the previous year. They also left debris and nails in my driveway, one of which ended up in my truck tire. After demolishing my porch, the team disappeared for weeks. Numerous calls to the owner gave no result as I was repeatedly told he outsourced and had already paid them so he was dependent on the other guys. Finally the team shows back up to pour the concrete. The concrete was not poured evenly resulting in an unlevel porch with a huge crack between the two sections. When I pointed out the crack, they filled it with indoor caulk. The very next time it rained, my enclosed porch flooded through the holes cut in my gutters and washed the caulk away. When I sent pictures of the caulk sitting in a puddle on my porch, I was just told that I need new gutters in that section. Fast forward to today, I am out of an additional $5K replacing the gutters they destroyed, my unleveled concrete still has a huge crack in it, and the stairs were never put back on the entry way, leaving exposed wood. Do NOT use this company!! The standard of craftsmanship is not worth the money they charge. UPDATE: the owner is correct. The gutters were not included in the original quote. My gutters were just done in the spring of 2022. I did not expect a company that claimed to be professional contractors to cut up and destroy my brand new gutters. We also apparently have different definitions of “very nice”. I don’t consider concrete with cracks and awnings with jagged holes (see pictures) “very nice”.

Hope nobody gets stuck with this builder next to your home. Will cause multiple damages to your home, will say they will fix/remedy the situation with zero follow through. When digging, they will encroach on your property, we lost a lilac tree on our property from a cave-in because they did not support the dirt walls of the excavation. They hit our home with heavy construction equipment. Damaged a window screen. When installing a new fence, they only cut the cyclone fencing at grade, so we had to excavate and clean the rest as our dog stepped on one playing in our own back yard. Disappointing this builder will take advantage of neighbors and say they will fix it all, but once the build is done, they disappear.

The Prices are not very competitive for builders grade cabinets and lead time to get the cabinets to site are too long.
