I contacted Rick on a Friday morning due to a dripping outside faucet. He came that afternoon for replacement. I was happy with the timeliness, price point, and the results. I will use them again for future needs and recommend them to anyone needing their services.

My disabled husband and I are almost 70 years old. On 6/22/24 our hot water tank began to fail. We contacted Rick Aton of Excellent Plumbing Heating and Mechanical in Colorado Springs for an estimate on replacing the 50 gal. 44” tall unit. His estimate was $1,950 and said he would install it late morning on 6/24. Mid afternoon we received a call from him from Woodland Park. He was looking at a 59” tank and asking about our measurements again. We remeasured and told him again that we need a 44” tall tank. With 48” inches being the absolute tallest. Anything taller would cover our fuse box. He pushed and pushed and said he wanted to give it a try. He could have easily purchased what we wanted in the Springs instead of a smaller town. He arrived late and removed our hot water tank, then brought in a tank that was obviously too tall. He installed it and when I told him I couldn’t see the fuse box he told me I just needed to get on a ladder and use a tool to flip the switches. It was late, my husband was tired and very upset. I needed to care for him. It wasn’t until the next morning that I dragged out a ladder. I couldn’t see or reach the bottom half of the fuse box. I could only see the top half if I leaned precariously over the plumbing and wiring. It was an unsafe situation. As seen in the included picture. The next morning I messaged Rick asking what can be done about this. He refused to talk about fixing the problem. He instead proceeded to send me approx. 50 messages over the course of two days ranting and raving. I have kept all of them for proof! Rick even said we should have the fuse box moved, a wall removed, base heaters replaced, new CO detectors and new wiring throughout the house. He said they were not up to code. It was apparent he was trying to cover up for installing the wrong size hot water tank. Later that day I contacted a licensed specialist who came over and he said that everything was good in our house but the tank was not installed professionally and he would install a new tank. On the 31st it was replaced it with a better quality hot water tank, the size that we wanted and at 1/2 the price. Rick’s many messages contained ridicules lies & intimidation. He also tried ORDERING me to send him information on the replacement tank, make and model, size, where it was purchased, who installed it, and pictures. It only confirmed my belief that Rick was an idiot and taking advantage of us and I could not safely deal with this man anymore. I immediately blocked him from messaging, texting and calling me. I highly recommend you stay far away from this business and not deal with Rick Aton. The lesson cost me $1,950. which we could ill afford to lose. Please beware.

I had a great experience hiring these gentlemen to replace my water heater. The price was so affordable and the quality of the work was amazing. They made sure to cover all their bases and ran me through everything I needed to know. He offered some great advice on other topics as well, which I greatly appreciated! I would recommend these guys to anyone!

I called Rick on Friday afternoon because I just had new counter tops and a sink installed by lowes. We paid for the reinstallation of garbage disposal but because of the new sink, the garbage disposal wasn’t going to fit unless we lowered the drain pipe coming out of the wall. At that point the lowes contractor told us they were unequipped to perform the repairs and told me they would have to come back on Monday to fix it. Oh and it was going to cost me over a thousand dollars more than what I had already paid. I called Rick and he came over the next day (Saturday) and got the drain lowered and fixed. I couldn’t have been happier with the prompt response and constant communication. The weekend is when we do the majority of chores and not having an operational sink or dishwasher would have sucked! Did I mention that Rick blew me away with the cost of the repair?! A fraction of the cost orginally qouted from the lowes contractor. Safe to say Rick is now my plumber for all my plumbing needs!

We appreciate the immediate and thorough attention Excellent Plumbing and Heating gave to us as we replaced a water heater. They tackled this seemingly daunting task with expertise and enthusiasm, and had us back up and running in no time. We used them again for Re plumbing in our home as well as faucet /sink replacement and again – excellent and knowledgeable service. Their pricing is fair and completely worth the value!

I can’t recommend Rick of Excellent Plumbing, Heating, and Mechanical enough! We experienced a sudden problem with the diverter in our shower (water shooting out in a stream, parallel to the tub) and Rick responded to my call very quickly. The Delta diverter was quite old, possibly from the 70s, and Rick worked with me to get the proper replacement installed within 24 hours. Not only did he do a great job, but he went the extra mile by discussing options with me via text and phone. He offered to search for the right replacement for me at different stores around town and was steadfast in his efforts to find ways to save me money and track down the right trim for my bathroom. He was also accommodating when I asked him to also replace our shower head with something more efficient. He and his partner, Andrew, were on time and patient with my questions. I’ve had several negative experiences this year with other contractors, but I feel very confident calling Rick back to work on future plumbing problems. He is a Master Plumber and was very efficient in handling the repair. I think the pricing was quite fair as well. 5 stars!
