We had a very poor experience with Dave Leonard. Back in March we’d approved a quote for the trimming of a maple and holly in our front yard, along with removal of a tree that had fell in our back yard. The guys that came to cut up and remove the tree did not inform us before they showed up (we were on vacation), and the only reason we knew was because of our porch camera. While doing the job they damaged our patio and stepping stones, which they did later fix. They never pruned or trimmed the front two trees as agreed upon despite me calling several times. Had they, presumably they would have noticed one of the massive Maple branches was rotted straight through. That branch fell yesterday, damaging a car and blocking the road for a few hours. Suffice to say, I don’t recommend this company to anyone.

Be sure and read the fine print of the contract, they only trim up to 12 feet above the driveway. When the gentlemen came over to give the quote and I was pointing out branches to be removed and he didn’t say “I’m sorry we cant get those they are over 12 feet high” he just had me sign the little contract, they showed up cut branches up to12 feet, and the ones I original wanted trimmed over 12 feet are still there. Lesson learned.

After the March 3, 2023 I had a large tree that was seriously damaged and endangering my house. I contacted numerous tree service companies and the response from all but Dave Leonard was basically the same “take a number and get in line”. On the other hand, Ross Raterman, President at Dave Leonard, came to our home, closely assessed the potential for major damage, prioritized the job accordingly, and found the resources needed to get the job done in a timely manner. Ross also demonstrated that he can think outside the box to tackle complex jobs. And, if needed, Dave Leonard will bring in the specialized equipment that no one else seems to have. One would think you have to pay extra for this level of service. To the contrary, I obtained four quotes and Dave Leonard was the lowest price.

Major wind storm damage- neighbor’s very large tree fell unto my home Fri nite. On a weekend Ross answered his phone, came to assess on Saturday, followed up on Sunday w a large crane and crew arranged appt, crew and massive crane arrived as appointed Tuesday, and tree was off house and removed by 4 pm. All this in 72 hours. 3 other Tree removal firms did not have a crane or did not follow thru. Tree crew led by Ryan (up/on the tree) masterfully engaged, and constantly safe. Crane operator James also a master pro. All Pleasant, professional, productive. If I could rate 6 stars, I would. Well done. Thank you Ross, Ryan, James and all 5 other Dave Leonard teammates. Ross and his team were quick to respond to an emergency situation. All of the staff were professional and the specialist kept safety as their number one priority not only on protecting our home but also protecting themselves. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs tree removal.
