Do not waste your time trying to work with this contractor. The initial contact will start off promising however, he will suddenly stop responding to emails, calls and texts. No idea if he is worth using as a contractor based off his work. But simply based off of his sad excuse of communication skills, I would say there are certainly better contractors out there to work with.

I am less than thrilled about having to deal with Preferred Site Construction. They have been contracted to clear land immediately next to mine for a new neighborhood phase by Konter Homes. I returned home this afternoon to find that a utility line in my yard had been severed due to their digging. After many calls to the building company, 811, and others, I was given the name and number for the manager who put in the dig request. I was not notified any damage occurred, and their “damage report” to 811 was not filed with the correct provider name listed. This occurred between 10 am – 3 pm, which, if notified, could have quickly been addressed and potentially resolved. However, that was not the case. I had to search to find out which company was responsible extensively. I called the field manager, and was told: “the utility line was not marked.” This is severely incorrect. Last week, when they were marked, I specifically pointed this one out & a very large, orange, spray-painted circle was put in my yard. Not only was their communication lacking – it has become a significant inconvenience. Not to mention the work that needed to be done and can’t; since it was incorrectly reported, the proper line of communication did not occur to ensure it is fixed. To top off the whole situation, a very large bill for having a new line laid will come with it. Please do better; this is downright ridiculous!

My experience with Nesmith Construction has been nothing short of a nightmare. I went under contract for a new home in the Sunfield Stations community after viewing another property in the area. But the home I saw and loved was built by a different builder, and unfortunately, Nesmith Construction was responsible for the one I ended up under contract for. My realtor and I did a walkthrough after the drywall and trim work had begun, and it was clear that the quality of workmanship was severely lacking. The master bath had tiles that were not only uneven but also chipped and would have to be ripped out completely to get fixed. There were also bowed walls/baseboard in the spare bedroom, a bow in the truss in the kitchen/living room area, and broken and cracked door frames, gaps in spaces where molding should have connected but instead were simply filled in with caulk. And these were just some of the issues – the we could see at least. We reached out to the realtor to let the builder know about the numerous issues. We were told several times that the builder would send the trim and tole contractors back out to the house to fix the issues. But just 2.5 weeks prior to closing, my realtor conducted another walkthrough and saw that none of the issues we brought up had been addressed and even more had gone wrong. Instead of acknowledging their shortcomings and making amends, the builder brazenly refused to address any of the concerns raised. I was presented with the ultimatum of either accepting the substandard workmanship or walking away from the deal altogether. I chose to walk away because the quality of work I could see was so terrible the home was not worth anywhere near what they were selling it for. It would have taken thousands of dollars to address the issues on my own. My experience with Nesmith Construction has been a harrowing ordeal characterized by poor quality workmanship, unfulfilled promises, and a complete lack of accountability. I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a home from this builder to proceed with extreme caution, as the risk of encountering similar issues is simply not worth it.
