Sylvan does some of the BEST work in the business and I will choose them every time! Their staff creates incredible designs, are responsive and professional, and deliver as promised. I have worked with them for several years now – they gave me the most beautiful lawn and most recently added a patio extension with garden beds. They completely brought the rendering to life and I couldn’t be happier!!

Based on overwhelmingly positive google reviews, we went with Sylvan Gardens for landscaping our home in Upper St Clair over 2 years, but our experience was truly disappointing. Although Brian and the crew were courteous and easy to work with, the quality of plants that were planted were extremely poor. We lost more than 50% of the plants within 12 months and although Sylvan replaced them in Year 2, the same were lost again within 12 months. When we contacted Brian, instead of trying to assess the root cause as to why the plants were not thriving, he told us that they only give 12 months guarantee and there was nothing they could do. Please be careful of the quality and type of plants they use and ensure you clarify the expectations. Would not recommend.

Sylvan Gardens has completed several projects for us with varying levels of complexity. Each time, the crews have exceeded our expectations with amazing results. The crew is very professional and courteous. They verify the intent of the work requested and seek clarification if they are unsure of any of the requested items. Neighbors have also remarked on their professional and courtesy. In addition to the crew, Brian Friend is well-versed in the landscaping industry and understands the client’s request. He and his crew will make things right in the event something is not quite as requested. I highly recommend them for any landscaping projects. I cannot say enough good things about Sylvan Garden Landscaping. I will continue to have them for projects.

I can vouch for the most recent review by Jason Harris. I just witnessed one of their vehicles running a red light on E Ohio st at 10:50 am today 8/13/23 and they almost caused an accident. If their landscape work is as sloppy as their driving, I wouldn’t recommend them. Most of the positive reviews look to be fake.

Sylvan Garden Landscapes took our ideas for our backyard and provided a great visual design of the final product. Brian and his team were very professional and we appreciated the open communication from the start of the project all the way through until completion. Other contractors we spoke to indicated poor access to complete the project, but Sylvan had no issues bringing in all the necessary materials and equipment. Brian answered all the questions we had and was very knowledgeable talking us through the process. Along with a good amount of river rock that needed removed they were very courteous during clean up and even removed all the fallen leaves in our backyard without us asking. Our project included French drains, a sidewalk, small patio and redefined mulch beds with plantings and stepping stones. The final product turned out even better than we envisioned. We highly recommend Sylvan Landscapes given the pleasant experience we had and would definitely use them for any future landscaping projects.

Brian was very professional and thorough in explaining his proposal for our new patio. He explained everything in great detail. His crew worked very hard and definitely knew what they were doing. We received so many compliments on the patio…can’t wait to enjoy it in the summer. I would highly recommend Sylvan Gardens for any of your outside or landscaping needs.

Absolutely wonderful experience working with this company! They basically took our brown barren wasteland of a front yard into a green and lush picture perfect landscape overnight. The team was hardworking and extremely professional. We’ve received so many compliments since the completion of our project on not only how great it looks; but, also just how efficient the team was! Also, anytime I had a question leading up to the start of our project I could expect an email back within a day if not within a few hours of sending a message. I would not hesitate to recommend Sylvan Gardens to anyone!

My mother was so pleased by their excellent work. They were really great to work with, had a wonderful design idea, came on time, did what they said they would do, and finished right on time as well. What more could we ask for? We highly recommend this company for your next project.

I cannot say enough great things about Sylvan! Brian met with us (several times) to come up with a design for our small backyard that was essentially unusable because of a weeded hillside and swampy yard. Most other landscapers came out, took one look, and said “put in a retaining wall” and gave us outrageous prices. Brian’s plan took into account that a retaining wall would most likely fail because of the amount of water coming off of the hillside. His plan that included a boulder wall and dry creek bed is perfect! Our crew was headed by Guillermo and they were awesome! My husband and I couldn’t wrap our heads around how they were going to do it even as it was shaping up. Their skills and knowledge amazed us and we still can’t believe what they pulled off. Many, many, many thanks to Brian, Guillermo, and the entire Sylvan crew on giving us a backyard that we finally LOVE!!
