Working with Brandon and Ventures has been incredible. Our backyard is our favorite place to be, year round. As with any project, there were hick-ups but what makes Ventures unique is Brandon is committed to making sure everything is taken care of. Even if something goes wrong after the project is completed. Ventures is by far the most responsive construction company/contractor we have ever worked with. Communication was 1000% there and still is!

They rushed the installation and didn’t file paperwork properly, and it subsequently became the home owner’s issue.

tl:dr – Venture’s craftspeople generally do good work, but their construction / business team will nickel and dime you to replace stuff that THEY damage while they work, so be prepared to fund an additional 10-25% of your quoted cost. We had ventures do our patio, yard and landscaping in 2017 and the end results were great; however, after some staff turnover over the ensuing 3 years, our second project to expand the patio and install a fire pit in the fall of 2021 went poorly. Despite enumerating the need to carefully handle underground electrical in advance of the project (that they installed in the first place), their equipment damaged this during construction, and rather than fixing their own mistake, they forced us to pay outside electricians to fix damage that clearly they had inflicted. Further, they destroyed our entire backyard lawn with construction equipment when they could not fit the required machinery through our front gate. While they put down hay/seed to cover most of the damaged areas in November, and their relationship manager committed to having someone come out in the spring the ensure there was good coverage for re-growing the lawn, they re-negged on this commitment and offered to quote us for lawn repair. We won’t use these guys again, but if you do, be forewarned that their definition of “reasonable care in the exercise of their tasks” is essentially that they will exercise limited / no care in the ordinary course, are not liable for any damage they do, but in a smarmy, two-faced fashion, are happy to provide you with a quote to pay them more to fix damage that they caused in the first place. Updated Response: I have added some photos of the condition that Venture’s left our lawn in. I appreciate that their response is that their activities did not damage the “unmarked” underground electrical (which they installed in the first place in 2017), however, the outdoor electrical worked just fine until work in the area commenced, and then did not work thereafter, which is simply not a coincidence. Further, while I appreciate that heavy equipment was used to move pavers, it was verbally agreed that our driveway, not our entire backyard, would be the staging area for the construction activities so as not to destroy the sod (which they also installed in 2017). The replacement of the entirety of our lawn that was destroyed had a cost of over $6,500 which represents 23% of the entire project cost, so when it is stated that there are incremental expenses beyond the quoted cost I am not exaggerating.

For those that want a quick review…look no further if you want a backyard fit for a magazine. Cheap they are not…but you get what you pay for! Slightly long winded version…we spent 2+ years trying to find a company to build a pool, but wanted a company to deliver an experience, design and product we’d not only be proud of but we would enjoy working with. After going through multiple companies designs and processes we chose to move forward with Ventures. I honestly can’t say there was a single part of the build that disappointed! Considering the scope of the project, they executed perfectly every step of the way. Ahead of schedule, enjoyable experience with every team member involved and a flawless product. Can’t recommend them enough!

My lakeside landscape project was very complex for a number of reasons. Few landscapers had the capability and can-do attitude to take it on. Ventures did, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with their approach, staff and end result. It looks amazing! Ventures went above and beyond to keep me informed of progress and issues (which were expected) throughout the project. They brought creativity and expert advice to help design and construct an outstanding multi-level lakefront living space. I couldn’t ask for more! I highly recommend Ventures if you have a large landscape project in mind. Thanks to Brandon and the entire Ventures team.

As a professional in the large-scale commercial construction industry, I’m well aware of the negative consequences of subpar design and inferior workmanship. Jake and his team were extremely accessible, here every day and paid attention to the details. If you are looking for a quality result, save yourself the time and call Ventures. As a new homeowner, I truly had no idea when it came to the landscaping and hardscape work I wanted done around my house. Ventures was super kind & patient with me every step of the way and brought a ton of knowledge to the table, which I always appreciate in a contractor. I brought them a few examples of patios that I liked and they put together the most gorgeous design so I could visualize my house before the project started. This was helpful because I did make a few changes to their design in order to keep with my budget. I will say, this company is high end. It’s not cheap but they do the job right and provide a high-quality service from start to finish. To me, that’s most important. Not only do I absolutely love my backyard, I get compliments every time I have guests over!

I loved, loved, loved my patio so much I had the guys come back to replace my front sidewalk. Jake’s design was just what I wanted, Alex was a super project manager on top of everything, and the construction crew did a beautiful job. Would recommend to anyone. Have recommended to friends.

Ventures Design IS a 5 star, premium design and build company based out of the Brighton/Ann Arbor/Detroit area. The spaces they design and create, both indoors and out, are phenomenal! The craftsmanship and care that goes in to their projects is obvious at first sight. The team is knowledgeable and professional and treats their employees, clients and subcontractors like family. I can say this from experience and seeing it first hand as a subcontractor for them. I have included photos of a few of the jobs we have painted and stained for Ventures.

Just saw these guys at the novi pools show. Absolute disgrace. They called my design that I brought to them old fashion and similar to a look of a scrotum. My 5 year old and 2 year old were standing close by. Clearly they were not looking for business and/or high (cause the other 2 consultants were laughing). Completely disrespectful and non professional. I have never been treated so poorly by any other business in my life.
