a year agoI worked here and I can tell you they do what they can to get in your house to install a system. then have you sign paperwork locking you into a contract for 3 years that you thought was $30 a month. If you don’t have a home telephone and even if you do you don’t want that package. You can only get that package if you have a home phone. A burglar can cut your phone line and your system is no good. Defenders will get you down bad. ADT directly is not a bad company. Just be aware of certified dealers or whatever they call themselves.

2 years agoI would avoid doing business with this company at all costs. Try SimpliSafe or a similar service. The upfront cost for a self-setup will be similar and will save you TONS of heartache, phone calls, and hundreds of dollars. This company lied to me about install and service costs on the phone, sent a rep out to my house and installed my system to then surprise me with a monthly fee almost double what I had been told on the phone. They offer a total cancellation policy within so many days of the install. I called to cancel the service as I was not happy about being surprised with a 3-year contract and a monthly price well beyond the price I had been offered when I was sold. The service reps were extremely rude, argumentative, and didn’t hesitate to get nasty and/or raise their voice. I requested supervisor assistance and was promised a call back. Every time I would follow up to speak with the supervisor who I was promised would return my call, said supervisor was conveniently out of the office or unavailable…. The supervisor was also conveniently the only person “authorized” to cancel my service within the cancellation period. I was avoided until my cancellation period had expired and then told “you’re out of your cancellation period so there is nothing that can be done.” I ended up having to file a BBB complaint to get the issue resolved. I was then contacted by another rep from Defenders explaining they had listened to all of my phone calls and my sales call and that I was in fact provided bad information, however there was no acknowledgment of the avoidance by reps at Defenders during my cancellation period. Long story short, they will lie to you about anything to get the system in your home so you’ll be on the hook. Save yourself hours, twenty phone calls, and all of your patience and do business with someone reputable.

3 years agoIf there was a choice of zero stars…….Highly incompetent. I could type a full page of complaints – so ridiculous – the complaints would be hard to believe. Cancelling service.

4 years agoHorrible service. I would not recommend anyone to use this company. They lure you in with a good deal, the contracted develops a “security” plan and charges you close to 3-5 thousand in equipment. We had equipment for less than 24 hours and canceled because the equipment was faulty and the service was ridiculous. Imagine having a video doorbell installed and an automatic deadbolt, then having those things and not want to work. I wouldn’t call that security. A ring doorbell or a wyze cam is more efficient and doesn’t fail like this. Save yourself the head ache and do not use this company. I have holes in my wall where they took my old security system and doorbell, and did not return my property after installing and uninstalling their new property. The contractor sent out was very unprofessional. ADT use to be good. Don’t bother trying to call them either. You will be transferred and bounced around from person to person, who sound like they are receiving calls in their own home while working on their personal projects instead of the job they were assigned to do.

4 years agoThis place is god awful to work for. They will steal your commission, not give you the right tools for the job. Once you quit it’s almost impossible to get your money. From the management on a local and corporate level are. Easily the worst I ever seen. I would not recommend this job or security system to any of my friends and family.

4 years agoIf I could give zero stars I would. When I explained a family member had passed away causing a move out of country their team told us “life happens”.

4 years agoBuyers beware one of the worst experiences you will have. My girlfriend and I decided to move in together so I ordered adt defenders not knowing she had her own alarm system. Turns out we decided to go with her system since adt defenders was overpriced and inadequate. Her plan had more devices for much cheaper and much better quality. Because there is no need for 2 accounts, I tried to cancel. First of all they lie about being able to cancel and the customer service was awful just got this system installed and I’ve been trying to cancel for 2 weeks and they have been no help and are trying to charge me $1000 to cancel, even while I was within my 30 day trial period. During a few of my phone calls the customer service reps denied me copies of my contract and information I needed and hung up on me. Put me on hold/mute for long periods of time for no reason. All in all if you’re looking for a good, reliable, trustworthy company to keep you safe, look somewhere else because adt is not that company

4 years agoDefenders customer service reps are horrible. They do not know the value of a customer. When you try to escalate the call they do not easily bring a manager. They rather breathe hard and show they do not care. Their supervisors are the same. I would suggest all new home buyers to not go with Defenders. This company is worthless and do not know the value of its own customer. Y’all rather go somewhere else.

4 years agoRecently, Defenders installed an ADT system in our home. The ADT system and the installation were good. To get me to sign up for the system, Defenders offered two $100 Visa gift cards. After the system was installed, I discovered that the gift cards come from a company called Mpell and you have to send $4.95 by money order for the S & H of each card. I have never had to pay to get a promotion like this in past. This practice is consistent with their sales pitch over the phone as I repeatedly told them I don’t have a landline and they kept telling me the cost was as low as $28 per month for monitoring. With no land line, the cost is $48 per month. This company uses very deceptive business practices to sign you up, beware!
