Simple Home Renovations 2 years agoI had a substantial water loss at my house.I was referred this company by a friend. At first Mitch was friendly, willing to help and great at responding to questions. Once I gave him the deposit, that is when everything started to go south. His bank had my check held for over a week and I had to go meet him at his bank to clear it up which was something to do with no enough funds in an account and not on my end. Which delayed him starting the work on my house. Once this was cleared, the electrical work started. I had no ceilings or drywall, so to run electrical for can lights was fairly easy. After the electrical he added 2 headers to my closets and moved my entry closet to the left about 2 feet. Once this work was completed he proceeded to ask me for a second deposit, stating that he already completed $12k worth of work ($7500 for 9 can lights, 2 boxes and a new outlet in my laundry room). That means that I was charged $600 per outlet and/or box or $375 dollars an hour. For a 600 sqft apartment with existing electrical, no way this was that expensive. I proceeded to ask him to give me a more detailed invoice of what he was charging and he kept sending the entire quote for my project. I have called and tried to work out a resolution but he has yet to answer my calls or try to rectify any of this mess. He basically did $3k work of work and walked away with $9k for free. Side Note- Closet headers and frames are not a normal size which makes ordering doors impossible, electrical was done wrong and not completed and he keeps charging me for demo that the Water Mitigation team completed prior to his arrival. Never use this contractor. He isn’t a good business person and has no business working in anyone’s home.

Oak Park Kitchen and Bath, LLC. 2 years agoWe used Oak Park Kitchen and Bath for our gut kitchen remodel. We had a separate architect who did layout and plans, but OPKB did the rest of it. From demo work, rough plumbing and electrical, new framing and drywall, maple floor repair, detailed cabinet layout and installation, and all the finish plumbing and electrical. Our project took a long time, some due to our indecision, some due to delays in permitting from the city, but Ron was patient with us and kept us informed of the schedule and what decisions/purchases we needed to make in what order. We were very happy with the “behind the wall” work they and their subcontractors did in a challenging old building that you never know what you will find once you pull the plaster down. Ron also understood my interest in top quality finish work and they did not disappoint. Tomaz was the on-site lead and was great with communicating with us and problem solving. His particular attention to the floating shelf installation was appreciated.
