I hired Upkeep for two projects. During the first one Lee installed new baseboards and window trim. He did an incredible job. Sadly, Lee retired. The second project was installing five replacement windows. When the windows came in we found that two of the windows were the wrong size-by 10 inches. They reordered them. The other three windows were installed. While replacing one of them there was a significant rip in the drywall. They mudded it up but did not paint it. The other two windows finally came in. Both of these were for bathrooms. They were supposed to be top with regular glass and bottom with obscured glass. They came through all obscured glass. They installed them and called a glass company to make the change. While installing one window they broke the drywall beneath the window. A crack approximately four inches down and 12 inches across. They nailed it back in place. It looked horrible. The other bathroom had a smaller drywall rip but also had left marks on the wall beneath the window. They mudded it all up. They did paint the large ripped wall with white paint. The rest of the room is blue. They also dented the soffit as they were moving the windows. The second bathroom window was off by an inch. They said it was no problem and they could make it work. Well, it doesn’t. While I don’t know what they did I do know that the window clouds up and has a lot of condensation on it even in weather that is not that cold. That is not an issue with other windows on my home. So Austin shows up on the last day and said I could just touch up the paint. That does not work because you can see the touch ups. So I was left with three rooms to repaint and a dent in my soffit. The only thing they did in a timely manner was to request their final payment.

I had the walk in shower installed after the install I noticed I lost almost 3” of width in shower also door handle had scratch and seat pooled water. After many calls and people telling me they would call back with solutions had to call them back myself. First time back they replaced scratched door handle didn’t fix anything else. After many more calls they came out and fixed seat but not main concern the width. Now waiting on a call to see what they will do to fix that. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I also heard they got rid of most of their installers and are using contractors to do the work who clearly don’t know what they are doing.

Your Personal Gardener & Arborist (YPGA) signed a construction contract with Stier Construction (Fred & Patty Stier, owners of Stier and Dan Scheibe, Vice President) in January. Stier estimated the work completion of NLT July 2022. The sub contractor for demolition stated he wanted to complete the demo in Winter as this was his available time. Demo contractors swore up and down about Stier not communicating at all prior to and during demolition. Stier finally authorized the demolition (phase 1) in June. YPGA hadn’t heard from Dan in almost two months after demo started and we performed a walk through to get a status update. At this point with the extreme lack of any communication from Stier we thought that Dan had quit working with Stier or some other extreme instance because of the no communication. Then, in early July, YPGA performed an onsite walkthrough with questions on change orders for the remodel of our commercial location. Following our email with questions for change orders, Fred replied with their “quitting” and will be billing our bank for 82% completion with no explanation given to us on even why they were quitting. Our banker called saying “she has NEVER seen this in her entire career” and was wondering what was occurring as we have had our loan and monies for the project secured since last April. At the final walk through to complete the demolition, Fred did not even show up. Dan & Paul (a manager) showed up (15 min late) to perform the walkthrough. We asked Dan why they quit mid-work and no reason was given, simply “I don’t know and he was sorry”. After almost one month with no response following the site walk from Stier, we sent another follow up email. The response from Stier was demanding YPGA to “pay us in full and then we are only doing some of the items covered remaining for the demolition”. In summary Stier Construction had come highly recommended to us by friends of our family who own local businesses in Mukwonago which had new buildings and remodeling performed by Stier. All said “hire them and you won’t be disappointed”. Dan Scheibe is very personable in person, will tell you everything you want to hear and then disappear without any communication for months on end. When we would send emails for status updates carbon copying Fred Stier, Patty Stier, & Dan, we would get rude emails from Fred, completely different from the in site meetings and communications made by Dan. We were so excited to begin a new chapter of our business with Stier Construction. Instead what was estimated to take 3-4 months total has rolled into almost a year (11 months to date) since we began meetings with Stier construction in the fall of 2021. Interest rates have more than doubled, we’re no longer even eligible for the SBA loan that was available and now we have paid interest only loans and utility bills for almost a year with no new contracting company even scheduled to replace this mess. Our hard work to schedule, meet, answer questions, and go through the entire hiring process was all for nothing and now we have to start it at square one. Attempting to explain a partial demolition and incomplete construction plans to any new contractors is messy and stressful during the busiest time of the year to attempt to hire a new construction company. We have been overly laid back through this and Stier took this as an excuse to push us off and not even supply a written timeline with construction dates. As of today’s current date, we still have not received any contact from Stier Construction to help close or even at the very least complete the demolition of our new building. We never received things that they charged us for (architectural plans, etc.) I hope for any new customers this review is taken into consideration when they’re trusting in a company to help fulfill their construction needs as I would highly not recommend Stier Construction for any of your remodeling or new construction needs.

The entire process went smoothly. The garage floor looks great! I knock a star because I wish they would have plastic covered the finished areas of the garage as the grinding process leaves a heavy dust residue everywhere! This is the second time I’ve had the floor done. The first time, the entire garage was empty. I should have realized and did it myself. But it would be a nice touch for premier garage to cover items before grinding.

I worked for paybe and dolan and they lied to me. They said i would have fair hours and a solid schedule. Instead after 2 weeks of training i was told that i HAVE to work 12 hour days 6 days a week or get fired. I tried telling them that is not what i was told during hiring. They said they would work with me. Then a few weeks later they then said they would fire me if i didnt work 12 hour days. I have kids. I would never work a schedule like payne and dolan surprised me with. THEN they fired me because i had a court date over my deceased fathers estate. This is a terrible place to work. Abusive. Lying. Treat you like you are a slave to jump for then every whim. DO NOT APPLY HERE.

Our experience with Paradise was excellent from start to finish! We worked with Patrick to initially plan and design our basement ideas, and prioritized keeping costs low. Patrick explained the entire process and timeline very clearly and didn’t try to sell us extra things we didn’t want to do. The project manager Mike kept in touch very often with updates and letting us know when staff would be onsite. The inspection processes with the city went smooth as well. We are very happy with the finished product and the time it took to complete!
