One of the first home improvement projects my husband and I did as home owners was to replace the flooring in our basement. As we were new home owners, we went to Sterling to get their expert recommendation. We told the sales associate we were looking to replace the carpet in our basement with something that could stand up to our two large dogs and the high traffic from our garage which connects through the basement of our split level. The sales associate suggested laminate flooring. Many people know installing laminate in a basement is a bad idea, but at the time we did not. Shame on us for not doing our research, but once again we thought we were working with a trusted professional who did know better. Not only did Sterling recommend a product that should have not been used in our application they also subcontracted out the installation. Less than a year later we began to have issues with the laminate plank buckling up at the bottom of our stairs where the door to the downstairs bathroom is (see images). This prevents the bathroom door from being able to the close. We called Sterling and they called the installers. The installers blamed the laminate material. So a manufacture’s representative for the laminate came out and took humidity measurements of the air and the material inside the laminate planks. They determined everything was within acceptable limits for the laminate. Neither the installers nor Sterling has done anything to remediate the issue. We were told if we wanted we could glue the planks to our concrete floor to prevent the buckling. Although when we stand on the portion of the floor which has buckled near the stairs it simply propagates the buckling down the hallway. So this really isn’t a solution. In addition when we started to pull off the trim and remove the planks, we noticed the drywall near the bathroom door has been crushed by the laminate planks expanding (see images). The wood panel on our bottom step has also been permanently deformed to bow inward either from the installation or the boards expanding. It seems clear not enough gap was left during installation of the flooring in addition to the wrong material being recommended. Now we are out the almost $4,500 we paid to replace the flooring and no where close to a solution we will have to implement on our own which will cost more money. I couldn’t recommend against using Sterling strongly enough unless you have expert material knowledge and the skills and ability to do the installation yourself.

The crew that replaces window glass is the best! They went out of their way to be helpful repairing a broken window from an old, old house. I so appreciate them. Not only that, their price was reasonable.

Bethany was so great to work with! She answered all my questions and was very patient with helping me pick out the colors we wanted for our blinds! We have had these blinds in our home for almost a year now and the quality is AMAZING! Highly recommend!

Great customer service and products. A little more expensive on some paints but the Wooster line of brushes and paint applicators is the best. Steve, Ross and Charlie in the Commercial Paint department do a great job.

Asked to adjust commercial doors for better closing. Came out 3 times (2 out of these were not the time when requested) and achieved nothing. When called again their service manager just got upset and rude about me calling repeatedly.
