Second time using Rochester Hardwood Floor. My home has the original narrow plank hardwoods. The floors are over 60 years old. Rochester Hardwood, literally has made them look brand new! Their work is consistently good. Two years ago, I had the floors on the main level refinished, and last month I had the 2nd floor floors refinished. I’m amazed at how well the floors turn out. The only reason for not giving a perfect 5 star review: the shoe molding trim really takes a beating and in several areas there was polyurethane splashed up on my walls and trim. Otherwise- couldn’t be happier with how beautiful the floors turned out.

Hired them to refinish some areas and install. Re stuff in others. Not happy. Some things just not done right. Others left off because they couldn’t figure it out. Wavy floors in some areas. Globs of excess sealant in others. I’d never recommend nor hire them again.

We hired RHF to do a small bedroom remodel. The original quote was to sand the room, fill some gouges two times(noted in the quote) and do three coats of polyurethane, with the last coat possibly being a matte finish to match the rest of the house. The first crew did a great job sanding but failed to properly fill the gouges before applying the first coat. The wood filler hadn’t dried… overnight it shrunk substantially and cracked. Divots were left in the floor. They clearly needed to be filled a second time. The crew that arrives the next day are two different guys. I point this out and they say that since the process has been started they will have to use a different product to fill it at the end. Skeptical, I let them continue. The last crew comes, again, different guys than each other visit, and simply puts what looks like caulk in the gouges. The last crew also failed to ask us which finish we were going with in the final coat. Quite different than the process I was assured would happen from the beginning. The color match on the poduct used to fill the gouges is horrible and it looks worse than the first coat. It also has no polyurethane on it so it’s flat in color. I feel as though applying wood filler before the start of a project is so simple and they failed to do this properly. We’re going to have to buy a rug to cover the part of the repair done incorrectly. I emailed RHF twice about this and it was radio silence after the job was done. Lastly we’ve noticed so much debris, like hairs and whatnot under the clear coat, it’s everywhere. It was a bunch of young guys in a hurry doing the floor. I would recommend using a company that puts a bit more care into their process and uses more experienced crews.

If you want your house to be a training facility for new hires these are your guys. The floors are permanently wavy after two attempts to sand and finish a 1960’s oak floor that was covered by carpet and had never been sanded. They tried to fix it but the damage is done. This is what your baseboards will look like throughout the house.

Rochester Hardwood went above and beyond to accommodate my scheduling needs working around a kitchen renovation. They performed various repairs/patching, inlay redesign, and a full refinish. Their crews arrived on time and were very friendly. They did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend them.

The team from Rochester Hardwood performed each level of service of their industry at the highest caliber. From scheduling to ordering, setting appointments, showing up on time or early and committing their extra available crew members to comete the job on time or early. We had flooring installed in April and were so happy with the work done that we had them come back for a second install three months later. They are not the least expwnsive nor are they the most expensive. They are certainly the most bang for the buck. They got the job done above our preliminary worries and expectations. Very friendly team. Vry professional. We have met a total of six team.members over the months and they were all presenting and performing at a very high caliber of professionalism. Super happy with this company and we will always recommend them.

Amazing crew of professionals. The floors at my house are over 150 years old, we also had to patch in several areas where the floor had to be removed for structural issues and lay new floor in the addition, BIG project. Great communication, lots of patience and understanding and consistently asked question about what I wanted the floor to look like. Everyone was professional, friendly and reliable. Most importantly the floor looks incredible! It turned out much better than I imagined. For reference we went with special walnut on red oak floors.

A great experience from start to finish! Five star all the way! The estimate was done by Donna who was punctual, knowledgeable, experienced and pleasant. Her follow-up communication was excellent. The estimate was detailed and fair. Communications/interactions with owner/managers Steve and Mike were always a positive experience. They are very knowledgeable about the hardwood flooring business and were a pleasure to work with. Installers Charles and Craig were excellent at their craft. They were punctual, worked hard the whole day, and cleaned up at the end. We were very happy with every aspect of the flooring they installed. The flooring that we had installed was a natural pre-finished select red oak from the Hardwood Outlet in Penfield. The folks there, Oz and Levant, were very helpful and accommodating in helping us choose the flooring that would best fit our needs. We took home numerous samples before making our final selection. Like Rochester Hardwood Floors, the Hardwood Outlet is a quality operation. All around, this was a great experience and we are very happy with the quality and value of the finished product. We look forward to recommending Rochester Hardwood Floors and the Hardwood Outlet to family and friends.
