We decided to replace or worn out carpet and wanted to support small local businesses. After checking all our local options Goods had a fair price and easy to work with. Having a fairly large L shaped area to be covered, 2 sets of stairs and some entry way work too, Ed assured use everything was no problem. Ed told us the Mohawk carpet had a 100% guarantee not to stain from pets which is why we chose that style (2 dogs). Was told if couldnt be cleaned it would be replaced at no cost. Before 1st year was up we ended up with a stain that would return after carpet cleaning both ourselves and professionally, and also found carpet was incorrectly installed on one set of steps. At first visit out was told stain wasn’t visible, shortly latter another visit and stain was then somewhat noticeable and Ed assured us he’d “make things right.” Many phone calls, voicemails and text messages latter nothing had been done even though repeatedly told “we’ll get this taken care of.” Eventually contacted Mohawk about the issues having and lo and behold Ed wanted to set a date to fix stairs and get stain cleaned. It was decided that when stairs would be fixed that the carpet could be pulled up to clean back of carpet to ensure stain removal. The installer was over hour late, the cleaners had to move on and come back so we ended up with a ripped up carpet until next day. As before after about 4 weeks the stain reappeared. Was given a bill of $190.00 which we paid just to end the nightmare. The months of aggravation to try this again is something not wanting to do. Promised the world but fell short of delivering any guarantees promised, if you’re buying flooring just to sell your house maybe ok but if you plan on staying in your house pass on Goods and Mohawk. Had to give one star to post☹️

I would not recommend buying any products from this store. Ed and his wife Nancy like to rip people off . They wait for older people to come in so the can steal their money. I’ve been screwed by them in the past month over $2,000. They buy cheap products then jack the pricing up. I definitely recommend going somewhere else.

Aware that Good’s Floor Store had a long successful history in Decatur, we decided to check them out while shopping for carpet for two rooms in our home. We discovered a level of quality and service at Good’s that is hard to find today. We came in and chose from the huge array of carpets they had in stock. After a visit to our home from Mr. Good the following day to measure the rooms, our installation was scheduled and completed and completed within a few days. The installers were skilled and professional making sure everything was completed exactly to our satisfaction. We are so happy with our new carpet! Here’s hoping Good’s Floor Store will be here to serve our area for at least a couple more generations!

Back in January my best friend decided to have new carpet installed in his house where my sister’s were living. Things seemed great at first, an order was placed for carpet that was in stock and money was exchanged all with smiles and handshakes, this is where the good part of the story ends. A few weeks go by with no contact from Goods, phone calls go unanswered, voice mails get no response. Then finally my sister gets ahold of them and is told it would only be a couple weeks, and then once again….crickets. Phone calls and emails and messages fall on deaf ears and blind eyes. They were happy to take my best friends money but sure as heck didn’t want to give any products or services for said money. Finally finally FINALLY more than 5 months later carpet install is scheduled, but only after money was asked to be returned. On the first day of the install my sister (all of 5 foot 1 and 110lb) had to help the big strong 200+ men move furniture (previously discussed with sales person/owner) because they couldn’t do it on their own. She was able to move a couch, dressers, beds and other odds and ends on her own but these two guys couldn’t lift a finger even though they were getting paid to do so??? After some carpet was removed they both left for lunch and didn’t return for 3 hours, must have been some union job I guess. I visited during the install and I can’t neither confirm nor deny if both men were sober. One of them liked to complain about the way the carpet needed to be paid up the footer on the wall, and seemed a bit whiny in general at times. Part of the floor had to be redone due to them not properly finishing out a step down area and you could still see the tack strips. This was a shoddy crew to say the least and not very professional, I completely regret having made the recommendation to my friend for Goods flooring.

We ordered carpet in February and had a wonderful experience and great price. We have now ordered carpet that was in stock and was told a delivery date of August 14th between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. after multiple calls and excuses and going to the store, no one showed to install on the 14th. My check has already been cashed and cleared the bank. 2:16 p.m. the installer finally arrived claiming he did not know of the installation at 9 a.m. 3:37 p.m the installer has taken two smoke breaks on a half hour job and the carpet pad isn’t even down yet. Billy, the installer did a horrid job. He attempted to leave with half of the room not nailed. Stated he knew it wasn’t complete. Then after he claimed it was all done we found carpet cut too short, scrap pieces used in the closet and carpet not nailed in the closet and no carpet padding in the closet. Sadly, we will not be back.

Good’s Floor Store has the best quality of carpet and flooring. They have available and flexible financing. The installers do a great job and you can count on them to get the job done right the first time. I will choose to go back for any of my flooring needs. They are really nice, polite and professional.
