Top notch service from start to finish. John is very knowledgeable when it comes to restoring and/or replacing hardwood floorings (all options of products). His installation team was one of the most professional, courteous and caring group of contractors I’ve experienced over my many renovation projects. Highly recommend Admiral Hardwood Floors!!

John did a wonderful job refinishing our 1st floor to completely change the feel of the house, was patient and helpful in sharing his expertise and identifying the options we had, and was very communicative and easy to work with. I would absolutely recommend, and would use him again when we’re ready to make changes to the other parts of the house.

We hired Admiral to repair some cracks and chips in soft pine floors in our DC row home. John was extremely professional, and was able to fix the floors beautifully while maintaining the historical floor planks. He was even able to replace a few planks with the same historical pine that he salvaged from other homes, as it is nearly impossible to find new these days. Will definitely be hiring them again in the future to keep our floors looking great.

John is a hardwood flooring specialist who has wholly earned my trust. I own a rental property in a DC suburb. I called Admiral Hardwood Floors because my tenants had a party and put several scratches, dents, and gouges in the living room floor (broken heels and metal folding chairs, we think). John started to share with me how I might conceal the damage myself and avoid refinishing, but I was adamant about a professional repair. So, at my request, John came out and provided a competitive estimate for refinishing. He was willing to use the stain and water-based poly that was recommended by the floor manufacturer (others were not) and I was so grateful for that flexibility. Just before we were about to schedule the work, I called John and expressed some concern about refinishing the fairly new floors when the house would continue to be rented. I expected John, like every other hardwood pro I spoke with, to insist I must refinish. Instead, he candidly shared that the damage did not require refinishing right now. He walked me through the steps for a DIY repair, assuring me the floors would be just fine and could be refinished later. John’s common sense approach helped me accept rental property realities and save so much money. I’ll be hiring him when the time comes to restore my hardwoods, without hesitation. Thank you, John!

Great experience with John and his team! Care and precision in workmanship, competitive price, fast and efficient. We had 2 rooms floored and finished within a week of our first meeting, and they look beautiful. The team is very friendly and helpful, clean-up was immaculate.

John and Jorge did an amazing job restoring our 180 year old heart pine floors. There were multiple coats of paint and stain on the floors and not a bit remains. They also made sure that the character of the floors remained, and we could not be happier. When we had some questions after the floors were finished, Jorge came back to our house and walked through the rooms with us and answered our questions. We will definitely use them again!

John is highly experienced doing business in this area now for 30 years. He understands floors and easily works with new and older homes giving practical options. He put in new flooring in our 7 year old home, replacing carpet. He was also able to beautifully refinish wood floors in our daughter’s 1900 Georgetown home while competitors were recommending replacement and he did the same for our 1950s church rental house. For our 7 year old home, we have now used him twice to replace carpet, first in 3 upstairs bedrooms with wood flooring 5 years ago and this month to replace the carpet in the basement with engineered wood (wood is not recommended for basements) that could be sanded and stained to match the existing wood flooring on the stairs. He has an experienced crew; Arturo laid the flooring for both the upstairs five years ago and now the basement. John is able to do other types of flooring such as LVP but we choose to be consistent throughout the house. The floors are absolutely beautiful. They look like they were installed all at the same time; perfectly matched to the existing flooring. We recommend him highly to friends and neighbors.

I was very happy with John and his team in all aspects — communication, quote, work, and follow-up. I had a longstanding project to repair some damage to my engineered hardwood floor. I brought in a number of contractors to take a look; I thought the best solution was to replace the boards, but no one was interested in taking on the job except for one company, which then failed to show up. Then I got in touch with Admiral Hardwood Floors. When John came out for the quote, he suggested another option to spot sand and finish the affected areas, which would save me a great deal of money. I also took advantage of the visit to show him some damage to my front door, and he offered a solution for that as well. The quote was very reasonable, and the work was done well and on time. It’s clear his approach is to treat each project as though he were working on his own home.
