Despite receiving multiple responses, I decided to entrust my project to Mike, and it turned out to be a decision I’ll always cherish. Our journey together began with a total renovation of my kitchen, and the results were beyond my expectations. Scott and his team worked very hard installing our cabinets and our oven/microwave for our kitchen. The also installed trim work that had to be custom cut by Scott’s team due to our ceiling being very uneven. They did a beautiful job. They also went out of their way to adjust drawers that didn’t fit. They made special cuts and adjustments to make everything work and look beautiful. They did a wonderful job and we and very pleased with our kitchen.

Hyvest Homes – Home Remodeling in NJ 4 months ago

We have continued to use Hyvest Homes for our painting projects and the wonderful experience we had on our interior and exterior painting project of last fall continued on our pre spring project this year which included our master bedroom and connected office. The team at Hyvest Homes (including Celso, Brian, Alex and Jesser) has done it again, performing a flawless job which included vaulted ceilings and heavy valences. Everything was completed in 2 days as promised. Always a pleaser to work with Gerald, the owner and Joe our project supervisor. We will continue to work on painting projects with the 2 story foyer, living room and connecting hallways next spring if not sooner. Thank you again for the fine service. Sincerely, Vincent N. , Somerset, NJ We had contracted with Hyvest Homes on exterior stucco painting after thorough evaluations of other painting contractors in our area in Somerset, NJ. I have posted a review of the excellent service and results we achieved on that project and with that we contacted Gerald, the owner, for our next project of painting our kitchen and family room. The kitchen was recently updated and needed a refresh and the family room had many wall cracks and nail pops after 22 years. We were impressed with the exterior work, craftsmanship and professionalism provided by the Hyvest Homes team on the first project and this carried on for our first interior job. From the beginning, Joe, our project manager made sure everything was in place as he did in the previous project. The Hyvest Homes team of Celso, Brayen, Jesser and Alex did an impressive job. The care with which all surfaces were prepared and the application of two coats throughout was amazing. The attention to detail was outstanding. Even on the final hours of the project if anything was missed, or just not right, these gentleman identified it and made it perfect. Another outstanding feature was the cleanliness achieved throughout the project. No sanding dust, drips, spatter, nothing. Our family room was the real test as it needed the most wall repairs, but everything was kept exceedingly clean. We recommend Gerald, Joe and the Hyvest Homes team for any painting project, both interior and exterior and to proceed without reservation. Our next project will be more interior rooms, starting again next spring as we do a whole house refresh over time. The tougher part for us always is choosing colors. I hired Kemar and his company for two jobs. My experience has been day and night. For the first job, we converted a portion of the attic into office space. This included flooring, walls, electric, and running ductwork for ac. There was a crew of three always present working full days. While there were aspects of the job I was not happy about (damage to our stove because of a dropped crowbar, damaged drywall to an adjacent room not part of the job, and some carelessness with our existing hardwood floor), but we were generally okay with the work done. For the second job we spruced up an old barn. Kemar said the job would be complete in 3 weeks, yet after 8 weeks there are still tile flooring that are coming up, shards of metal protruding from the windows, screws sticking out from the stair risers, an unsecured bannister, and a very noticeable hump in the middle of the floor. The quality of service was greatly reduced and we will need to hire someone else to fix the work. Rather than three workers, Kemar left a single person that was sometimes not left with the proper tools to do the job or noticeably under-skilled. The most consistent worker did quality work, but said on multiple occasions that Kemar didn’t provide enough material, should have given him a second worker, and that some of the work Kemar completed himself would have been done differently if that worker had done it. Two of the other workers smelled like alcohol and drugs and didn’t seem to do anything while they were on the job. Kemar would also show up at very inconsistent times ranging from 10 am to 5 pm and worked for around 2-5 hours. There were three days that Kemar said that he was on his way and never showed up at all. It seems that once he received payment he was content dragging his feet and entertaining other projects. My wife and I tried to be accommodating, and expressed to Kemar that we had hard deadlines for the project, but never received any more concern, effort, or a full day’s work from Kemar. As a result, our plans had to be canceled. I’m sure that if we received the level of professionalism, respect and care that we received for the first project, this project would have been completed. Kemar is personable and easy to like and it’s a shame that this project turned out so poorly. I cannot recommend Home Built Construction in earnest.
