My Mother had some serious electrical issues, with sparks flying out of some outlets. I tried calling 3 local contractors. They would not return my calls. I called Smith Electric. They answered the phone right away. The woman on the other end of the line was very helpful. She said she would check on the status of her electricians and call e back. She called back within 20 minutes. By 1pm , on the same day, I had two electricians and my Mothers problem was solved. Great service!

I chose Smith Electric in Cookeville because of its 5 star rating. The ratings must not have included business practices, because that is my biggest concern with their services. When I called to schedule an appointment, I asked for an estimated cost for what I needed done because I am retired and don’t have money to waste. I was told that they cannot give estimates because they don’t know what the work will entail in my home. I also was not told that they will not accept charge cards, so when I went to pay, I got a shock with a $1,700 bill for 15 hours of work and they would only accept cash or checks! The bill itemized the charge for the electricians at $45/hr for each and they sent two. If they would have told me that when I asked about a quote, I could have stopped the work when the costs reached my budget and had them come back to do more projects the following month. And if they had told me up front that they didn’t accept credit cards, I could have gone to another company. The electricians were pleasant and competent.
