This company has given me the best service I have ever had in 22 years on the island. They came out on the same day I had a problem the 1st time I called them and were so reasonable. Unlike many other tradesmen they did not add a trip charge or a consultation fee in addition to the work. I have had them come twice more and they always get here very quickly within a day or 2, and charged the same each time. I highly recommend them. I think because they are so reasonable with genuinely skilled electricians, they had to redo jobs I previously paid another less skilled tech to do) they are getting very popular so may take a little more time to schedule. But quality work with a smile is worth waiting for. Way to go!

Was not happy at all with this installation. Two (yes, two) rows of wrong holes in my roof after a solar install. One row is still there under the panels, a row of bolts that was clearly installed incorrectly. And the second row was patched, very poorly, with tar, and it took literally months for them to come back and do a little better job patching their incorrect holes punched through my roof. They ended up trying to color match the paint on the visible holes but that didn’t work very well either. The solar is otherwise working great but punching extra holes, not telling me, and then making me insist on fixing these holes in a reasonable way, is not ok.

Mattos did a solar install for us in Orchidland. That resulting damage was extensive. Holes were put in the metal roof without adequate sealant. This was discovered when water came through our ceiling in numerous places. The drywall in the attic was a mess. I contacted Mattos on MANY occasions asking them to fix the damage. They are studiously ignoring me. When things went south, they fled south as well.

We hired Mattos Electric to install solar on the Naniloa. After working with them for a few months I can say with certainty that they are one of the hardest working crews I’ve had the joy of working with on Big Island. Professional, reliable, knowledgeable, and they get it done. If you hire the cheapest contractor you’ll get the cheapest work. If you hire Mattos you’ll get the best value for your $.

I called Mattos Electric to see if a technician would be able to come to my home & take a look at my solar inverter that had stopped working. After speaking to the dispatcher, a skilled technician called me & walked me through how to reset the solar inverter. I was very impressed with the quick professional service. I will definitely call them in the future any time I have electrical issues & need service at my off the grid home. Highly recommend this company.
