Wight’s Deck+Design built our deck last year and we had a good experience, so we decided to use them for our landscape project. Our recent experience was not as positive. The project was poorly managed and lacked clear communication. From our perspective, the owner was too busy to thoughtfully manage our project which caused confusion and delays. Additionally, we were surprised by the final invoice. The labor estimate nearly doubled compared to the original estimate without any communication that actual hours were running over the planned hours. At the end of the day, we are satisfied with the result. However, we feel like we overpaid due to project mismanagement and would not recommend this experience to others.

I was referred to Thadd Wight at Wight Deck + Design and was immediately impressed with Thadd. He was responsive, professional, and warm. Thadd came highly recommended by a major company, but I since have heard from several other acquaintances of their separate positive experiences with Thadd and his company. It was quickly apparent Thadd has years of experience and approached the project from the customer need and quality perspective–which is not always a given with companies. He took the time to ask specific questions, listen to our answers and hear what our goals were, and those remained the key focus. Because they specialize in design as well as installation, the focus on the project was always to address our needs. I would highly recommend Wight Deck + Design and Thadd Wight for a future home project.

Contracts with Wights are invalid and do not conform with WA law (RCW 18.27.114). They did not show up for work as promised and attempt to use an invalid contract to refuse to return deposit. I am currently in communication with the WA ATG and they additionally referred me to Dept. of Labor for additional actions. Beware of contractors who are unreasonable and unscrupulous. 2. Reply to Response from Owner. Contrary to what they claim Wight’s kept $2000 of my deposit. There is an ongoing investigation (Case number: CCTN #337797) with the Attorney General of Washington for improper procedures and legal remedies are being explored. I will update this as it progresses. Don’t sign any contract that does not contain a contractor registration number and a proper Disclosure Statement as required by RCW. 10/13/22

Wight Deck and Design just completed a gorgeous new deck for us using TimberTech material and we could not be happier with the results. It was quite a large expansion with a fair amount of complicated angles and transitions, and every last detail is to perfection. The crew was super professional, friendly, and very respectful of our household. At the end of every work day the job site was completely cleaned up as if no one had been there. They arrived punctually every day, worked hard and competently, and we knew what to expect during each phase of the project. Equally important, the job was finished on budget and on time. Props to Thadd, Josiah, Rick and the rest of the crew!

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you and the entire crew for a great job. The deck is fantastic. We hosted friends for our daughter’s birthday yesterday and received many complements. The workmanship is excellent and the process itself was great, too. We really appreciated that the crew showed up everyday until the job was done, that they were friendly, polite, and always left a clean jobsite. And thank you for the clear, frequent communication, and for responding quickly to any concerns we raised. All in all it was a great experience.

Our experience with Wight’s Deck + Design was great. From our first e-mail, they were prompt and thorough. We got multiple bids and choose Wight’s because they were honest, upfront about permits and restrictions with our property, and commitment to quality work. Our project was large, involving two decks with one being a hot tub deck. Other builders did not want to move or coordinate with electricians to hook up the tub. Wight’s had no issue and took care of it for us which was amazing. The whole building crew were great people. They kept us informed throughout the project and were polite and helpful. Our project did take a lot longer than initially planned due to COVID material supply problems, but I can’t fault them for that. In the end our new decks are beautiful and well built. We would definitely recommend working with them!

We initially hired another contractor to replace our back deck and build us a covered front porch. It was nightmare after nightmare (and that was before COVID-19) dealing with him. Finally I discovered that he hadn’t even gotten the correct permits from the city and had not built to code or even using all the materials in our contract. He was so fired! Thadd and his crew helped make it all right, working with me and the city and an engineer to get all the boxes checked for permitting and code and safety. We now have a new back deck that is beautiful and safe and an amazing covered front porch that we get nothing but compliments on. I wish I had known about Wight’s Deck+Design when we were in the planning process. We look forward to working with them again on future projects. Cannot recommend them enough!!!

We had a large deck and outdoor kitchen project installed and Thadd and his team were very responsive and thorough. The work turned out great! The project took a bit longer than expected, but every setback was communicated effectively. Many of the setbacks were out of their hands and they did a great job making up lost time and services. I was very impressed with the work they did and their communication along the way. The whole crew was very polite and courteous. I would highly recommend this team!

Thadd and team did an awesome job of demolishing the old deck and replacing with a new one, ahead of schedule! The team worked in the rain and cold, without a break and were extremely professional! They are highly recommended!

We’re very pleased with how our deck turned out! Thadd and the team kept us informed of the progress throughout the whole project and we knew upfront what to expect as far as cost and timeline. All our questions were answered in a timely manner. The new deck completely transformed the look and feel of our backyard space.
