I hired Barefoot Decks to build an upper deck, screen porch, lower deck and accessibility ramp in my backyard. Each member of this company that I interacted with was professional and talented. The Project Manager (Danny) kept me informed throughout the process. When issues arose about some unexpected wood rot and need to expand the ramp for accessibility purposes different from the original plan, I was especially impressed by his immediate detailed explanations. The team also interacted well with the other companies that I hired and were working on the backyard project (landscaping and general construction). I highly recommend them! Kudos to Project Manager Danny, Builder Chase and his team, Builder Conrad, Painters Jeff and Greg, and Electrician Tony. Nothing but high praise for these people! Lynn G.

We would NOT recommend Barefoot Decks. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We thought we were paying a premium for a great experience and product, but this was the most frustrating company we’ve worked with since we bought our home. Communication was a major issue throughout the project. The crew that built our deck was unprofessional and seemed to lack the skills needed. When we brought our concerns to Danny at Barefoot Decks, we were told that things would come together in the end. The project started on 8/28. As the end of the project approached, the crew started rushing through and slapping things together to finish up. They used different colored screws all over the deck, and in many places the screws weren’t screwed in all the way. They left gaps in the railing, uneven gaps between the deck boards, and sharp edges sticking out from the improperly installed flashing. They smoked in our garage making our house smell like cigarettes for days. On 9/14 they said they were done. We reached out to Danny on 9/16 about the issues with the deck and about a leak that had developed in our garage after a rain. We asked him to meet with us to look at the problems with the deck. He said he’d come out the following Monday but didn’t. Then said Tuesday and didn’t. Finally, a different crew member showed up to patch the siding and fix the flashing to stop the leak, but Danny never came to meet with us to look at the other concerns we had. On 10/4 my wife sent an email with pictures detailing the items that had yet to be addressed (uneven railings, large gaps, splits & cracks) . We knew these items would need to be fixed prior to staining, and that any boards replaced would delay staining by an additional 6 weeks. It was 10/20 before anyone came to correct the issues, and it was the same crew that had made all of the original mistakes. They did not bring any materials with them and had to go buy supplies from Home Depot. The boards they came back with were warped and that’s what they installed. They still didn’t screw the screws in all the way and left them sticking up. The deck staining subcontractor had to spend his first day driving 100s of screws so he and his crew could sand and stain. Due to the late repairs, it was 11/27 before the deck could be stained and the project wrapped up. Was everything perfect, no, but we were ready for this project to be over. A long review I know. But I feel like customers should know what they’re getting in to with this company before they sign any contracts. If you live in Marietta/East Cobb area, I’d recommend looking for another deck company. The job was finally completed on 12/1/23 and I’m happy to be done with this company. 6/25 – Update. 6 months after the completion of the project and the railing continues to get worse.

Before & After When the building inspector compliments you on the quality & structure of your deck, “These guys do really good work; I see a lot of deck builders and I never have any problems with these guys” Arley was our salesperson, he was a great help in our decision to go with composite decking vs wood. He presented the cost of every phase and option on a clear to understand excel spread sheet. Danny was our production manager. Rick, Blacka, Dave & Girley completely took down the old deck and built the new deck. They arrived early every morning and worked until about 4-4:30pm M-F. Upon completion, everything was cleaned up and hauled away to our satisfaction. There was a slight delay clearing up the final punch list. Overall, we are very pleased with the project and would recommend Barefoot Deck for your next project. Dan & Deb

Our new porch looks great! After a busted pipe made it necessary to replace our covered porch ceiling, we decided to go ahead and redo the entire thing. The construction team of Chase, Jake and Justin did an awesome job. They were here early and were working hard all through the day. All had great attitudes and were so sweet to my very interested 4 year olds. The trim carpenter (Conrad, I think?) did a great job of meeting my somewhat specific requests for the column trim work. Overall, very pleased with our finished results!

Excellence !!! Choosing Barefoot Decks was the best decision I have made. The quality workmanship is just one of the many assets. From the beginning, I received top notch care! My salesman, Jeremy Church worked with me to make the right selections for replacing my old deck. I was then introduced to my Project Manager, Danny Ostrander. Danny kept me informed every step of the way. His professionalism, sincere care of customer service and overall knowledge/experience of the work made my whole experience great. He always took the extra mile and I love my beautiful deck! A huge thank you to Danny and I am fortunate to have had him as my Project Manager.

Truly OUTSTANDING service and warranty! Barefoot Decks put in a 320 SF Trex deck for me 4 years ago (May 2020). It looks fantastic but in May 2024 (4 years later) I noticed a loose handrail and sent them an email. They were literally out here the next day. Not only did they fix the loose handrail, they jacked up and re-leveled the entire deck for some minor swaying from settling, replaced ALL the wooden posts under the Trex handposts with a new kiln post that is less likely to warp, replaced all the composite beauty band, and replaced a bad post light! They really went above and beyond my expectations and I literally feel like I have a brand new deck 4 years later. Very professional and timely, and the crew cleaned up after themselves. Very nice (and refreshing) to have a company that truly warrants what they do to this level. No other company I’ve worked with has been this good. I highly recommend them!

Ricky, Dave, and Alex did an amazing job rebuilding my deck. They showed up early everyday and they were able to complete the job ahead of schedule. Underneath my previous deck was a bird nest. The guys took care not to disturb the nest and we were really happy to see the nest still intact after the boards were replaced. Everything was perfectly done and cleaned up after completion. Thank you all!

The Barefoot Decks team, comprised of Rickey, Dave, Alex, and Conrad, exceeded all expectations with their stellar work on my deck. From start to finish, their professionalism and expertise were evident in every aspect of the project. Not only did they deliver exceptional results, but they also completed the job with efficiency and attention to detail. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome, and I highly recommend Barefoot Decks to anyone in search of quality deck construction. Major kudos to Rickey, Dave, Alex, and Conrad for a job well done!

Excellent and professional job. Ricky and his crew were on time and completed all work without issue. So impressed with the work they did on our front deck we had them come right back to replace our back deck as well. Great job by Ricky and crew on both jobs. Highly recommend to anyone.

I had a great experience with Barefoot Decks from the initial estimate to signing off on the finished deck. They had to completely tear down my 20-year-old deck and build a new one according to HOA specifications and updated building codes. They permit and the approval processes were seamless because the City of Smyrna knows the quality of their work and attention to detail. Although Barefoot Decks was not the cheapest, I felt I would get a quality product without cutting corners. They did not disappoint. My crew Ricky, Dave and Alex were here every morning exactly when they said they’d be here. They left the work site tidy every night. They were friendly, courteous and worked hard. My townhouse is very visible in the community, and many of my neighbors commented about how great the deck looks. The painting crew, Jeffrey and Danny, were equally professional and respectful of my property. I would be remiss if I didn’t give kudos to the Production Manager, Danny. He coordinated every step of the project with professionalism and courtesy. He was never rushed and answered all of my questions. Everyone I encountered at Barefoot Decks was knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend them.
