I loved using maid of América services. All of the staff were very friendly, cleaning was thorough. They always asked if there were additional items they could help with and asked for feedback on the job they had completed. Pricing was average for the area and worth every penny. From the very first meeting I was hit with a red flag. Shelby told me she could tell by looking at my house that “you’re not to particular about how you keep your house.” I let this nasty comment slide because I really needed help. Fast forward about 9 months and circumstances have changed, we can no longer afford cleaning. I cancelled two days before my service because I was scheduled for 8 again and had told them I can’t do that time more than once. I decided to cancel all future services as well to save money. She responds by saying “hate to see you go. I remember what your house looked like before we started.” I was aghast. Then She tried to tell me I needed to pay cause I cancelled after the confirmation went out (two days prior) I honestly would have paid if she would have just started with that. I do love Rachel (lead cleaning lady) and would not want to leave her in the dust, but the owner, Shelby is an awful human. Incredibly judgmental. First rule of house cleaning – never make your client feel bad about their mess. The mess is the whole reason you are being hired!!!! I can’t even believe a 40 yr old woman is this immature. Anyhow then she tried to gaslight me like those comments were not intended to offend or shame me into giving her my business. Best luck to Rachel and the girls, I can only imagine what it’s like to work for her. I was warned by my neighbor, who’s mother did some work for her. They didn’t want to come right out and say what they thought but I was warned not to use this company.
