Absolutely the worst GC I have ever worked with. My wife and I went through the process of getting our custom house built by Doug and it was the worst decision of our life. Through the entire building process Doug was always trying to cut corners. The first gotcha our custom wood grain fiberglass door was supposed to be stained and ended up being painted to which Doug stated that is was not his problem but the problem of the painters. The floor trim was installed before the flooring was put down and therefore gaps everywhere as in the contract it was stated we did not want quarter round. Our entire punch list was not completed to which we were informed “take the house as is or I will sell to someone else”. Now the icing on the cake! Our entire house is full of mold due to the roof was installed incorrectly and now he is blaming the roofer even though his license was pulled for the permit! Absolutely ridiculous! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

New construction June 2018– I hesitated for a few years to write this, I was hoping, in the end, Doug would honor his work but that has not been the case. I’ve have multiple issues post construction of my newly built home and he is unresponsive or replies and never follows through. The craftsmanship is moderate at best, many corners cut and lazy a foreman that never overseen the work of the subs was my experience. Seems like always robbing Peter to pay Paul and build took several months longer than should have. I have crooked walls, poorly set concrete, many electrical issues, crooked bricks, & terrible insulation— ceiling joints already showing, off brand things used when higher quality was what I was told would used. Had several things that he to be redone during construction due to lack of communication or builder just not having notes and making sure our plans were followed. Common sense not leading the way when simple things needed to be done that I didn’t realize I should have been WAY more specific on, or just been babysitting the build. You would think a builder would give his best to you, that is not the case here. He talks a good game but doesn’t deliver or follow through. My main problem is still dealing with electrical after 4 years— they’ve been back but it’s never been resolved fully. My master bath valves are incorrectly installed and to fix issue was to rip open ceiling and walls after tile was completed. Unless he’s got a new crew with a new attitude I would not recommend this builder. I’ve had recent wind damage and he won’t even return my call to tell me what color shingles were used or where they came from so I can match them. Multiple text, calls and e-mail — no reply. My final straw.

Doug Shepherd does not make notes of what needs to be done and has to repeatedly be reminded of things that often can compromise safety and be health hazards. He often does not tell the client of problems such as when the unit flooded and floors had to be ripped out. Yes, he fixed the problem he caused but I just happened to notice that the floors I had paid for were missing and happened to ask otherwise he would not have told me. He promised that he warranties his work and he wanted his payment but of course, he has not come back to fix several problems. There are doors that keep swinging open compromising patient privacy. There are tiles outdoor that were not put right so we are having to replace. There are places where he promised he would put floor board but has not done so.
