We are very happy with the way our basement turned out after Brian, Matt and their team of craftsman brought their ideas and eye for detail to our home. We challenged them with matching finishes from both our original house and an existing expansion space that was done in the early 2000s. The end result is a space that feels like a true extension of both. Working on an older home can present unique challenges at every step, but the team was able to pivot and adapt to each one. Communication and expectation setting was good and they were open to scaling certain aspects up or down to fit our needs as the project unfolded. I would recommend Mill City without hesitation to anyone looking for a contractor to help transform their home.

Mill City transformed the basement in our 1957 rambler into a beautiful ‘lower level’. In addition to expanding the bathroom, we added a bedroom, family room, kitchenette, work room and extra storage. We doubled our livable space! Everyone was great to work with – they listened to our ideas and made them a reality.

Mill City Design + Build provides absolute stellar customer experience and service. I engaged MCDB as a part of my looking into the cost and feasibility of adding an addition to our home. I am looking to add an addition above my garage, and needed to know whether it was even possible to do, and if so what it might cost. I started the process by filling out their easy to complete form on their website. Without delay I received a confirmation email and an invitation to meet with Brian for a quick over the phone conversation regarding the project. Brian contacted me right on time on the date of our phone meeting and the experience could not have been better. Brian took great care to explain the ins and outs of a project such as this, keeping the informative without being overly technical. Brian took his time to explain both the opportunities and challenges a project such as mine could present, as well as the potential costs of each. The call was both conversational as well as professional, and it was nice to be provided the level of detail that Brian provided in our initial call. While time will tell whether I proceed with this project, Brian’s help and input with definitely help in my decision making as he provided what I needed to determine the cost benefit of such a project. With that, I can say that my confidence in Mill City Design + Build’s ability to do great work is high based on my interaction with Brian, and the level of service he provided during our initial call. In business, first impressions can be very enlighten, and the first impression made by Brian and Mill City Design + Build is highly favorable. We had Mill City do a complete finish of our basement in our 1925 bungalow home, with a bedroom, playroom, large living space, full bathroom, and storage. They are by far the best contractors I have ever worked with and we are extremely happy with all aspects of the job. Exceptional work and wonderful communication. We couldn’t be more pleased with how the project turned out.

Working with Mill City (Brian & Matt) to finish our South Minneapolis basement has been great. We worked through the design concepts and stayed in close contact throughout the project. They even worked with us on parts of the project we wanted to complete ourselves. The basement looks great — It added a bedroom, an office, a living area and a bathroom. Mill City will definitely be top of our list to call if we need more renovations done in the future.

We worked with Mill City on finishing a basement in a South Minneapolis bungalow. They added a living space, guest bedroom, and full bathroom. We are loving the space! Their final costs matched the initial quote, they use high quality insulation, and they found creative ways to make the most out of the trickier spots in our basement. Our basement is now bright and warm, and our basement stairs are 100% safer and prettier. We also appreciated some of the finishing touches at the end of the project. Thank you!

We recently completed a kitchen renovation with Mill City Design + Build who exceeded our expectations every step of the way. Brian and Matt are thoughtful, creative, professional, honest, patient, flexible and responsive. They are knowledgeable about older bungalows and worked with us to move a 1920s built in hutch to a different wall so we could open up our kitchen, in addition to a gut rehab of the kitchen. It all turned out beautifully thanks to their expertise and Willy’s carpentry skills. I’m grateful we found them and can’t recommend them enough!
