Very disappointed with this company. Seems like they dont have trained professionals working for them. Take a second to read through why they have delayed my business from opening! *First time around they tucked my entire light switches up in the attic, had no way of turning on my lights. They had to come out to fix the issue, yes i had to pay for that. *They cut my outside camera cords and sent a crew out to fix the issue. I was told It was recommended to just get new cameras because mine were old. I agreed and assumed I would be compensated in some way for their error but I wasn’t. I would have to PAY for this. Nothing taken off my bill and they weren’t willing to buy new cameras for my company. *I have NO power to the room they worked in. They didn’t ground the circut to the breaker box. So now I get to contact a new company to come fix this issue. They aren’t professional. The crew doesn’t seem to know what they’re doing. The office gal Karry was super nice until I had issues. When I called about expecting something for their errors, she said “We absolutely will not compensate” I’m very disappointed and was hoping for a better experience.

I would not recommend using Advantage Electric at all. Their service Manager, Kerri Scheller, does not follow through with a job unless you call her multiple times. I had storm damage on Thurs 8-3-23 and TCLP stated to get an electrician to fix the mast and damage to the electrical box and they would come back and hook up the power as soon as the work was done anytime day or night. Kerri proceeded to tell me that they could not complete the work until an inspector came out, so on Friday they did not complete the work and told me that I would just have to wait until Monday or Tuesday when an inspector could get out there. TCLP does not require the permit to be signed off on for storm damage and they were kind enough to call Kerri and ask her to finish the job on Saturday so I could get my power back on, which now is the weekend and I had to pay double overtime for a job when they could have finished it up on Friday! I was actually out of town in the UP when this happened and had to keep making continuous phone calls with spotty cell service, when one phone call to fix the electrical box and mast should have been sufficient. I had other family at my house and a refrigerator full of food and more family arriving on Monday for my daughter’s wedding and Kerri did not care one bit. She just kept telling me that it needed inspected first, which is Not True. The inspector came on Tuesday, and approved the permit and the work that had been done. I have emailed the manager, Doug Rexroat, with my complaint and have not heard anything back from him. I feel that I was overcharged for a job that I had to beg them to finish on Saturday, which could have easily been done on Friday. I do not recommend Advantage Electric at all and will never use them again. They do not care about their customers at all.

2 years later update in 2023: Advantage has since fired the manager Shannon that deflected holding responsibility and oversight on projects. I’ve hired Advantage on two other occasions for small jobs to test the quality of their service. For small jobs specifically, I can report that they’ve rebuilt some of their talent and systems and techs like Jesse have added a ton of value to the residential side of the company. I’ve increased this review from 1-start to 3-stars. And will bump it to 4 as their quality of service remains strong. Thank you to Doug, Kris and Jesse for getting rid of poor management and dialing in better systems. Tnx, -j ————————————————————————————— 2021: I wouldn’t recommend using Advantage Electric. I’ve hired them over the past 8yrs to do numerous projects — from $30k in electrical car outlets in commercial buildings, to residential expansions, to rewiring older lakeside home service. Chris is one of the best electricians in the company and Matt has done a good job with oversight. However, they have grown too big — to the point where you find managers like Shannon saying they are, “only one person, I can’t oversee all of the projects” assigned under him. If you choose Advantage, good luck getting assigned a team that has the proper communication and oversight needed — maybe you’ll get a solid team, maybe you’ll get a rogue team that mirrors the example of their management — that they just don’t care and aren’t proud of the quality of their work. During our project, we ran into a lot of issues. From leaving hot wires exposed for days while children are running around (both indoors and outdoors), to not pre-planning their trenching routes and tearing up our entire property unnecessarily, to mixing up east and west and placing electrical boxes on the wrong side of buildings, only to move them and leave holes in the side of the residence, to leaving junk (conduit, rocks, roots) scattered across the property, to scratching our kitchen flooring when moving the electric range, to not being transparent on change order pricing (they charged me $2k to trench across a gravel driveway and place PVC for consumer when other companies charged $500). To no final call from the manager when the project was done — something the lead electrician said would happen. We even had other trades picking up after Advantage, because they were so frustrated with the lack of care and cleanliness at the end of each work day. I’ve tried twice to talk to the company about the lack of oversight on their jobs. Their response? “Talk to the owner about your dissatisfaction. I can only say sorry so many times” — “Goodbye J, click (phone).” Why wouldn’t a manager care about improving the quality of his team’s work? How does this type of oversight impact the culture of the company internally? It can’t be good. Advantage no longer cares about the quality of their work. They don’t care about training their managers. They don’t care about oversight and follow through. If you use them, you’re taking an unnecessary risk. Maybe you’ll get a good team with a good manager. Or maybe you’ll get a rogue team. This type of risk isn’t worth taking on your projects. Hire another local electrical firm, not Advantage Electric. They’ve lost their way, and it’s evident in their culture and management.
