I’ve had many issues with Streib on my Illinois solar install. The sales experience was top notch and the driver for choosing Streib was the fact that the company has been in business for a long time, which was added assurance that they wouldn’t decide to close overnight (unlike my previous solar contractor). Project management is sub-par. First, I failed my city inspection. The plans that Streib submitted showed a 3′ setback from my front dormer and the install wasn’t even half of that. Eventually, new plans were submitted and the company adjusted to 18″ and it passed. Now I’m at the last stage of my project and my final Ameren agreement shows a credit expiration date of October, which is contrary to my requested month of April. If Ameren is trying to stick me to an October date, then I’m afraid that I don’t really need solar since my strategy was to bank my summer credits for the winter. I brought this up to the PM and was told that he sent me a revised contract. When I opened the new contract, it still reflected a credit expiration month of October. The summer is almost over so I’m not going to get the running start that I hoped for. Seeing how 92% of the funds have been paid, I’m not seeing much urgency in getting this rectified. For those considering solar, I would recommend going another direction based on the setback issue and the overall project management issues. I will add updates to this review and pictures of the setback violation shortly.
