A-1 came recommended to us by another contractor and we couldn’t be happier with the job they did. Their incredibly hard working crew worked rain or shine (mostly rain) to take the exterior of our 1940s home back to it’s original state. Everyone I interacted with was polite and friendly and our home looks incredible. They even did some extra work while they were here. I would recommend them highly if you have an older home and are dealing with failing paint.

Richie and the A1 crew did an incredible job restoring the ceiling beam in our living room and removing the trim around it. This was tough work and hours and hours of careful paint removal and sanding. What was once covered in paint and other layers is now restored to beautiful sanded wood! It’s a centrepiece of our home. Their cleanup left the room spotless. I highly recommend them.

We had A-1 remove all the paint from our 1920s home in order to prep it for painting. They also did a ton of wood repair work. It was a huge job and they did such a fantastic job. They were thorough, professional and we loved working with them. The hardest working crew in town. I was so impressed. Can’t recommend their team highly enough.

A-1 was absolutely wonderful to work with in stripping the paint from all of the exterior wood details (porch, eaves, corbels, window sashes, etc) of our 1914 house. They were kind, easy to work with, very efficient, and did excellent work.

We have used A-1 several times over the past 15 years including a full exterior house scrap and most recently new exterior painting. Their crew does excellent work and we always appreciate the thorough clean up at the end of each day. Having a 115 year old home with lots of detailed trim and fragile windows, they took particular care when working on or around these features.

We had A1 remove paint on an entire side of our house that gets a lot of direct sunlight in the summer. One of the previous owners had covered up paint that was maybe the original paint on our 1920s cedar siding house. That paint job bubbled and looked terrible. We had the A1 guys come and remove the paint and the Portland Paint & Restoration came and repainted the newly uncovered cedar siding. The result is spectacular. I don’t have a picture of the “before” but this is what it looks like 3 years after the work was completed. We would definitely use A1 again, and would recommend them to anyone with an old house with peeling paint. You don’t need to replace all the siding with lower quality new siding, the paint is probably the only thing that needs to go.

We hired A-1 for exterior lead paint removal, prep, and repainting of a house built in 1922. Paint removal and preparation were top notch. High quality primer and paint used to complete the job. Very satisfied!
