Our garage door was not closing due to problems with unbalanced springs. I called the office, and John scheduled the service for the afternoon on the same day. Alex, the technician, arrived on time, checked the system, and provided a cost estimate. The cost estimate was very reasonable, so I didn’t seek estimates from other companies. Alex was very professional and gave me a thorough explanation of the garage door system. Thank you, Alex, for a great service and answering my questions patiently.

Our garage door wouldn’t open and they didn’t have any technicians available till the next day. We were heading out of town before then and needed to get the door open so we could get the car out. John was very patient and took the time to trouble shoot with us until we got the door open. Thank you so much John, we REALLY appreciate your time and expertise!

Very pleased with their service. I had NSGD install a new garage door several years ago and recently had them back for a door check/tune-up. John in the office was very pleasant to work with. North Shore Garage Doors has been servicing my garage doors for years always receiving professional service, right on time and fair prices. But what really sets them apart is their customer service. I recently had an issue with the garage door, sensors providing a false signal in the morning, due to the intense sun light, and they explained and sent me pictures / videos on how to fix it, with no charge. Their service is awesome!

Nutshell: Don’t use North Shore Garage Door. I bought a top of the line opener and they installed the garage door sensors improperly, then charged me to come out and install them properly, twice, but they still didn’t work properly. The last attempt to fix them was when they sent a technician who made some adjustments and then said the sensors were mounted incorrectly. He said the were supposed to be clipped on, not bolted and one of the bolts was cross threaded. He tried to charge me for the correct parts and the service call. I objected so he just charged me for the service call. A few weeks later the door would not close again. John in the office said the sensors are being bumped causing misalignment even though I insisted the sensors were aligned per the steady green light, and no one touched let alone bumped the sensors. John insisted the green light must be flashing and he suggested disabling the sensors so that the door would close even if something was in the way. I declined knowing the sensors are an important safety feature. He said they do it a lot when the sensors act up. If ever a customer is injured I’m sure their attorneys will appreciate this review. John said he’d send a technician out ONE MORE TIME but I’d be charged $49 for the visit. I said this sounds like a SCAM. You install the product incorrectly, then charge $49 to come and fix it when it doesn’t work, again and again. John then said he’d send out a technician one more time and not charge me “but if there is a problem, find another company to fix it.” We arranged a day & time but the technician never called and never showed up. I took John’s advice and found someone that came out the same day that I called. He made some quick adjustments, at the opener, not the sensors. He said the travel limits and the force settings were wrong. When he heard the story of what North Shore Garages was doing, he said, “I stand behind my work 100%. It only took me 5 min. and I was in the area anyway. No charge. Please call us when you need service or a new door.” I sure will. The opener has worked perfectly ever since. Be careful, North Shore Garage Doors is part of Garage Door Group/Fix My Garage. From the time the doors would not close I made several attempts to talk to Will Santiago, the owner. I left messages but my calls were never returned.

After another company couldn’t fix our garage door issue and made the problem worse, JV and Brian came out the same day I called and assessed the situation, clearly explained to me what needed to be done, and made an appointment to come back the next day to implement the fixes. While we ended up switching course from their recommendation, they were understanding and did a fantastic job making our door functional again. Would absolutely recommend them and the team to others.

What a great garage door company! I had such a pleasant experience from my time on the phone with John to the in person experience I had with Vernon. Garage door repair is a hot business online for lead generators but this is a local, family owned business, whose focus on service and satisfaction is unparalleled. Keep doing what you are doing! We appreciate you on the north shore!

Had to write this review based on my recent experience with John Gutiérrez from this company. I had recently purchased a house and was facing issues with my garage opener’s remote operations. I called North Shore due to a mailer that had shown up in my mailbox, and John was so generous with his troubleshooting advice without trying to sell me anything. Based on his advice, the issue was traced to the lightbulbs attached to the unit; John said that LED lamps emit EMF that interfere with the remote’s signals. Removing those bulbs solved the problem. John didn’t get any of my money (coz I didn’t buy anything) but he definitely got my admiration and gratitude. Honesty like this is very rare nowadays, and I hope him and his business all success!
