We were returning customers to the Renewal by Andersen brand, having had their windows installed in a previous home in another state. When we moved to Michigan, it was a no-brainer for us to go back to them as we’d had a tremendous experience in Indiana. Unfortunately, the Michigan branch is owned and operated by a different group of folks, and we had a VERY different experience. I’ll start by saying that the product itself is phenomenal, and I wouldn’t change a thing about the actual windows; they are excellent. In fact, that’s the only reason I’m giving 2 stars. If it weren’t for the product, this would be a one star review. The reason my review is so critical is that the management and organization of this Renewal by Andersen brand is incomprehensibly bad. Everything started out ok with our contract, measurements, and the install. But the initial install could not be completed because the crew had not been supplied the correct color flashing material, and one of our windows was incorrect from the factory. So, the first crew (who were terrific) told me that the company would reach out to schedule another install day to correct the mistakes. After several weeks I had to reach out to the office multiple times to get a date set for the crew to come back. I finally did and the only thing I could get was a couple months away. Fast forward to a few days before the scheduled day and I receive a reschedule call because the crew that was supposed to come to us had an injury. Totally fine, stuff happens, so I rescheduled for a couple weeks away. The day arrives, and I am waiting for the crew to arrive after they let me know that they’re 20 minutes away. I wait and wait, and they don’t show up. They call me again, and let me know that they’d been given the wrong address so they’re about an hour away. An hour and 20 minutes later, they finally arrive. When they get there, we find the window that had been ordered incorrectly the first time is STILL wrong. So, another crew will need to come to do that window. This crew only needed to correct the flashing. The first install crew did 8 windows, a sliding door, and the temporary flashing in less than 8 hours. It took these guys about 10 hours to only do flashing. When they finally left, they told me that the office would reach out to schedule the correction for the incorrect window. The next day I began what ended up being a multi-month process of trying to get in touch with the office folks to set up another appointment. I left a half a dozen messages over the course of about 3 months and never got a call back. Finally I was able to get a person in their office, and was met with complete incredulity as the last install crew seemingly had not informed them that the one window was still wrong. After looking into it, they finally believed me and we set another install date. I also requested that someone in a managerial roll call me to discuss how horrible this entire process had been. I did receive a call from a manager and he assured me we would be compensated for our trouble, but wanted to wait until after our job was completely finished and we were satisfied. We set a date for another call after the final window was installed. The date came and I was home once more for the install. This time the window was correct, but the installer didn’t have any hardware in the correct color with him. That meant yet another corrective install visit to bring the correct parts. They did finally come and finish it, but even then, the installer had to paint some screws because he didn’t have the correct color. After all this; nearly a year in process, repeat appointments that caused me to miss multiple days of work, the conversation with the manager yielded us a $1,000 credit off our $30,000 project. He offered $750 and I told him there’s no way that’s enough, but he refused to go any higher than $1,000. This branch of Renewal by Andersen is an absolute joke, and I would not recommend them to anyone after having the single worst customer experience of my entire life.
