I was referred to Don’s by a trusted friend who told me they were efficient, professional and reasonable in their charges. The technician was efficient and professional, however the charges were not reasonable for the extent of the work that was done. The entire job, which was to place a roller back onto the track, straighten the track where it came out and do a checkup of the door operation, took about 15-20 minutes. The inspection was supposed to be covered by the trip charge, which was reasonable at $39. However, the charge for the actual work was $270 plus a 15.00 charge for shop materials, which amounted to two bolts. I paid this and then after thinking about it, i called Don’s to let them know how unhappy I was after i spoke to my friend who had used them and he was adamant that i should call. They offered to take off the trip charge but i said that i wanted to speak to a supervisor. That was two days ago and as of yet, i have heard from no one. I believe the charge was double what should have charged and i would like some consideration for a substantial refund on the service, not simply the trip charge removal. I am not happy with Don’s and don’t plan on using them again unless we can get this rectified.

Outrageously high prices!! I’d had Don’s do work for me a few times in the past. They were always a bit pricey, but nothing terrible. Then I called them to replace a broken garage door spring. They wanted $3,500 to replace three springs!!!! Parts online were $450. They wanted $350 to install two 2″x2″x1/2″ blocks of wood to align the spring tube. I had the wood–they just needed to remove one screw, slide the block in, and reinstall the screw. The tech that came and gave me the estimate seemed more of a salesman than a tech. He didn’t see any problem in charging $350 to install two blocks of wood. I ended up calling Efficiency Garage Door Service. They did the whole job for $830 (installing the two wood blocks was free). On their initial visit to inspect the problem the tech did a temporary repair on the spring to get us by until our springs arrived. Efficiency did a GREAT job, the tech was very skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly. My springs needed to be special ordered and the office staff was great. I’ll never call Don’s again, not when their price is over 4X the price of their competitors.
