Overall my experience was great despite a few glitches along the way. Once the restoration began under Bob every thing was smooth sailing. He made sure the work was done on time and correctly. Bob’s team was great.

TLDR: Guys like Bob & Austin create customer loyalty by exceeding expectations, and doing it with a smile. I’m writing this review to share my opinion of work done by Austin Millichamp and Bob Grassfield, who came to the rescue after my restoration & rehab project fell through the cracks. I’ve been in the real estate investing business for 20 years and I know a good team when I find one. The team (Austin & Bob) I had was 2nd to none. My townhouse in Vernon Hills flooded in August 2023. The restoration team came to clean-up and tear-out everything ruined by the flood including drywall, HVAC, etc. For putting it all back together, the insurance company recommended I call Paul Davis Restoration. The office assigned Austin Millichamp to assess the situation and start the reconstruction process. Working with Austin was great. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Austin understood the situation I was in, and he made the extra effort to meet me on my schedule to review the project and fix the mess. I still remember, during a meeting at a Starbucks, he said “I feel terrible that your project is taking so long and I’m going to get your unit fixed as fast as we can”. That made me feel very confident about working with Paul Davis. Austin completed his piece and handed the project over to Bob Grassfield, who promptly reached out and met me at the unit to review the project. I enjoy working with Bob. He is polite, communicative, experienced, and he rolls with the punches. We discussed all the options for rebuilding the unit, and he was able to offer suggestions where I wasn’t sure about something. As I mentioned, I’ve been in real estate a while and worked with many GC’s. Bob is one of the best from technical knowledge, administrative push-through, and customer service perspectives. As a business owner, I know it’s very hard to find someone who is such an expert and also so good with customers. We finally finished in MAY 2024. All-in-all, I’d say Auston and Bob not only saved the day, but created a loyal customer for Paul Davis. They took a high-value customer that was going out the door, and turned me into a believer. As a business owner, I would do everything in my power to hold onto guys like this. Incentives based on happy customers is a good way to start, and I promise you THIS customer is very happy. When PDR Chicago suddenly went out of business with unfinished work on our bathroom, PDR Waukegan took the job. It was days before Christmas and Karl and George went above and beyond to finish reconstructing our bathroom and even accommodated our requests such as installing a new vanity sink and purchasing a new light fixture when they noticed the other one was rusty from sitting outside for too long when the project stopped. They are also very thorough with updates; explaining what needs to be done and what was done which we truly appreciated. They work hard to achieve a 100% for the customer’s satisfaction. I highly recommend them. It was truly a pleasure working with Karl and George. Thank you!

My mother’s house was flooded due to a ruptured sewer line. We contacted Paul Davis and they repaired all the walls and carpeting better than it looked before. They also repaired the furnace cleaned up after themselves. Phenomenally! We would recommend them to anybody. They are people of their word. I cannot thank them enough. They have made my mother very happy!

It took more than a month to get mold remediation scheduled. More than two months after that was completed, we’re STILL waiting to get the reconstruction completed. We’re going on 3 months without more than half of our kitchen and nobody seems to care or be in a rush to get this done. DO NOT USE PAUL DAVIS RESTORATION if you want your work done timely.

I am the biggest fan of Lavell and his team at Paul Davis Restoration of Lake County. We had not one, not two, but three totally random and unrelated water events in our house in 2023. (Burst pipe in the basement, different burst pipe from a water filter in our kitchen, toilet on the 3rd floor spilling down to the 2nd floor.) Boy was I happy to have these guys helping me. I’ve also recommended them to neighbors who have been pleased. The team communicates well, they show up when they say they will, they leave the place clean when the leave each day, they respond to feedback and requests, they even gave me helpful suggestions for how to repaint the basement to make it look more modern. I have total confidence in these folks. They know how to mitigate water damage and to prevent mold. Preventing mold is the most important thing you can do when you’ve had a water leak. Call these folks right away, right away, and they will move mountains to get to you and dry out your house so you don’t develop a mold issue. Whew! I cannot thank them enough for their great equipment (if you’ve never seen the wild stuff they use to save a hard wood floor, you’d almost ENJOY watching the process), their attention to detail, their willingness to get the job done quickly, and their communication. They rebuilt some custom made bookshelves along an entire wall, working from pictures, and I think they look as good or better than the original. Also, they worked well with State Farm, which was involved in the burst pipe issue. Please note that you want the Lake County folks. All Paul Davis are not the same. I’m sure others are good, but we had the best experience with this specific team. Shout out to Picasso & team for their painting & support, as well as to Lavell. Also, the cleaning crew was particularly cool. They did a great job AND they were delightful. One last thought….it’s a little unnerving to have people in your home when you can’t supervise them directly the entire time. We had no issues with them being in our house. Nothing was ever missing. Our home and our belongings were treated with respect. We felt okay with them in the house with our teenagers and our pets. All around, we’re highly satisfied with the Paul Davis Restoration of Lake County and give them two thumbs up!
