Before you discount my review as just one bad review among numerous good ones, ask yourself this: why are all the reviews from within the last month (as of my posting this)? And why are all the reviews from accounts that have done almost no reviews. And why do almost all their profile pictures look like stock photos? It’s because this business is a scam, plain and simple. Whenever enough negative reviews like mine appear on one of their listings, they surely delete the listing, create a new one, and populate it with new fake 5-star reviews from fake Google accounts. You can see numerous examples of shadow listings for them (with different variations of names including “removal” or “restoration” and “asap”) around the region, with their own shadow variations of the same website as well. Now, to my experience as a customer with them. Everything they said was a lie. Some main points: 1. Rick came over for the initial evaluation of our bathroom (we were interested in removal of mold if it existed), and later we received an email from their team with a hefty proposal including removal of sheetrock and sanitizing all over. Only one big problem here. We didn’t have mold. We trusted them because of their copious 5-star ratings (see dubiousness of those above, that we later discovered), but after we got second opinions partway through their job, we found out there was no mold to begin with. They convinced us to do this expensive sheetrock removal process that was entirely unnecessary, and would not solve anything. Our second opinions indicated, for our much more minor actual issue of mildew, all we needed was an exhaust fan in the bathroom. That’s it. 2. Did I say they convinced us to let them remove the sheetrock uselessly? Well, it didn’t stop there. They removed the *concrete layer* under our sheetrock (we live in a prewar building) as well. Their proposal included the removal of “insulation”, but there is no insulation in this old building. If the concrete was an unexpected barrier between the sheetrock and the beams they said they’d paint with anti-mold stuff, they should have communicated with us. But nope; they just sprayed the concrete, then annihilated it. So now we have a job with rash destruction on top of its overall pointlessness. 3. Their proposal said they would have the work area isolated with plastic to prevent cross-contamination. Nothing of the sort set up! Only masking tape and later duct tape around the bathroom door while it was closed. Our house became a total mess with layers and clouds of dust, particularly from the destroyed concrete (see point 2 for the contribution of their unplanned destruction of the concrete). 4. At the end of their first ‘work’ day, they set up two big machines in the premises, one inside and one outside the bathroom, then shut the bathroom door and told us to leave the one outside on until they returned three days later. We assumed the one outside (which had a tube going under the bathroom door) was assisting the one inside, or something like that. Nope! As we found out after we ordered their work stopped, the one outside (labelled “dehumidifier”) just had its tube going down the drain of the sink, so no connection to the other machine. The dehumidifier was just uselessly dehumidifying the rest of our house (completely unrelated to the area we had asked for their help with: the bathroom). And the other machine, that was in the bathroom the whole time? We don’t know for sure what it was, but we realized from the orientation of its feet and its handle the workers had had it upside down the whole time. There are more signs of unprofessionality I could describe (e.g., showing up on unscheduled day), but I think the central message here is made. Don’t use ASAP Restoration, in any of the iterations it presents itself as. They will bill you for as much as possible, tricking you about the nature of your problem, useless fixes they will do as ‘work’, and the excessively messy and destructive approach they’ll take throughout the process. Don’t become a victim like my family and I did.
