Stay Away DO. NOT. USE. I bought a house in Princeton with a Honeywell security system. The previous owner used Vector so I decided to try them. They came out to switch the system over to me, but couldn’t get the security cameras to work. In addition, they were unable to get the alarm system to work reliably remotely (a requirement since I travel a lot). They came twice more but still couldn’t get the Alarm system to consistently work remotely or the cameras to function. In addition, they do not provide after-hours and weekend support for my system. If found this out when we had an alarm issue…the support people who answered the phone said they could not support my system! When complained about this and they gave me a new phone number to call for support…turns out it was the Honeywell support number for Installers only…they also would not help me. After that, the manager never responded to my inquiries about support options for my system. Remote access and weekend/after-hours support are a must for me. Needless to say, I canceled my service (and went with another company that was able to get everything up and running successfully). Then Vector sent me a bill for over $2000 for cancelation. When I complained they said ok and I thought the matter was over. Then yesterday, after almost 3 months, I got a call from a Debt Collector. Apparently, Vector passed the invoice on to a debt collection agency! So not only are they incompetent, they are also vindictive. STAY AWAY!

They were in our back yard when they sold us the system, now they tell us that are too far away to service or support it. They do not go to the places that are detailed on their website. The sensors go through batteries far too fast. When the system does go off, Vector spends hours, sometimes days calling again and again. If there were a real emergency, no one would know. It’s a DIY security system.

Our alarm system hasn’t been working properly for several months, with a lot of the sensors bypassed. And we also don’t receive any calls back from the monitoring center when the alarm goes off. Once I called the Center after the alarm went off and asked why they didn’t call me back, they told the center didn’t pick up any signal. So our alarm system has not been working properly for months, the center did not notice anything and inform us, why are we even paying Vector Security the monthly monitoring fees then? So I started scheduling service appointment with Vector Security. The appointment took a week, but no one showed up. So I had to call again to ask and reschedule, which another week to do so. The service came and checked the sensors, but he didn’t check if the signals were properly connected to the Center. So when the alarm went off a day or two after that service, the Center didn’t pick up any signals. So again, another service scheduled and again, taking another week. While on the phone, the service person told me that he would transfer me to Emergency service, but I was just left on the phone waiting. No one picked up. It’s been a month already since we have been trying to fix the system once we noticed the problem. What about all those months that went unnoticed？And all the communications with the company have been very difficult as well, trying to get hold of someone, and being promised for something but didn’t deliver. So I called again today, trying to find out who I could speak with about my overall account service, figuring out all the issues we have been having with Vector Security. And most importantly, we are looking into options to strengthen the security system by adding the outdoor cameras. However, I was told by the service that I could speak with the salesperson that sold the service to us. I called him and he gave me such an attitude and kept saying that it was customer service that I should call. And I said it was the service that told me to call him. He then started yelling that he was driving and trying to focus. Sure, he could be driving. But if he really cared about it, he could have said that he would look it up and schedule a callback. His tone and manner were really unacceptable as someone representing the company. When I mentioned if there is nothing you can do about these issues, I need to consider changing to another company. His first response was – when you signed the contract, it was a three year contract, so if you cancel, you would still have to pay the difference. WOW！Gladly, we are already passed that 3 year, because now we are no longer threatened by the contract and by Vector Security’s staff! With the above experience, I don’t think you care about whether you system is working or not. You only want to sell and someone paying for the monthly monitoring, no matter if it’s working or not.

This is the review of this local office, not the entire company. The customer service is unprofessional and irritating. They don’t care about the customer’s problem. The panel was installed in the wrong location by Vector Security, and when I asked to correct the issue, they offered me an appointment in three weeks and told me that I would have to pay for the mistake they made.
