This note is to let people know what a perfect home we have thanks to Jim and Patrick Lawler and their employees at Lawler Construction. We started out with one design and along the way changed it several times. Patrick and his team were always very patient, polite and accommodated our every wish, so that we ended up with a home with every one of our many details attended to. Our property is located in a Home Owners Association. We had a few issues meeting the HOA Architectural Guidelines. Some items the HOA contested seemed to be a road block to us, but Jim and Patrick gladly met with the HOA Architectural Committee. They patiently and quietly explained our position and made suggestions as to how some changes could be made to arrive at solutions that would meet the HOA requirements. They were great! The HOA Committee agreed and we were able to virtually have the home exactly as we wanted and that met all HOA standards. Quality of construction was beyond our high expectations. Having previous custom homes built, one being of 10,000 square feet, we were familiar with quality home construction. The Lawlers exceeded our high standards and amazed us in some areas that went beyond what we had experienced from our previous custom builders. All the people we interfaced with during construction, from Lawler’s on site superintendent, to their subcontractors were always helpful and eager to answer our questions and meet our many needs during construction. Without perfect communication, any project is going to have many problems and can lead to frustration. Communication from top to bottom with the Lawlers and all their employees was exceptional. We were always very pleased when we made a request or asked a question, at how quickly we received a reply – whether by phone, e-mail or text. It is always very satisfying when a person has a concern to have that concern addressed immediately, and that is just the way the Lawlers and their team handled all our many, many calls. We have heartily recommended Lawler Construction and do so now to anyone wishing for a good, honest contractor who will build them a perfect home.

This is a review from people who actually had Lawler build a house. This is among the worst experiences we have had with any company due to misinformation, poor communication and substandard workmanship. We understand there were challenges, but they told us 100 times “things are crazy” then used it as license to take responsibility for nothing. Everything they said about cost – total cost, price per square foot, “rough range” estimate, etc – was grossly inaccurate. GCs are only as good as their subcontractors and suppliers – in this case, not very good. The amount of rework required to correct poor workmanship was staggering. We kept a journal to document workmanship issues and it’s 6 pages long! When we asked questions, voiced an opinion, or expressed frustration we were either criticized or ignored. Re; the Jay New Man review and others, giving a 5 star rating to a company you have not done business with is neither credible nor helpful.

Just an FYI, We did not buy a Lawler home but instead bought a Mandalay as Lawler was not actively building in Mtn Gate at the time of our initiating a new build. Now that we’ve been in our Mandalay home about 18 months, I can say that Lawler builds a solid home compared to Mandalay as they currently are building around us. We’ve been able to observe and see for ourselves that the difference is night and day when comparing the two builders. Lawler does charge more but you know the saying “You get what you pay for” as that is apparent but then there are the small things like keeping their work areas clean and picking up after themselves during the entire process. Lawler is classy as Mandalay is sloppy and Lawler even makes certain your home is completed before they release the home to you. Mandalay not so much. Look at Lawler long and hard before you give your hard earned money to Mandalay. If given the opportunity, we would have. Now back to my pending list of warranty items with Mandalay 😠
