I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of my deck. Although I had lower offers, I’m glad I chose Ben and his team at Story Custom Decks. They offered premium service and products I don’t feel I would have gotten elsewhere. Not only were they instrumental in helping me navigate permit regulations but also led the effort to get an amendment for my property in Forsyth County (no small feat) where I didn’t even need to be present. Ben and his team represented me before the Board and made the case that helped us get the decision approved to extend my deck out by 4 ft which has made a tremendous difference in outdoor living space. They also use premium materials — I love the TimberTech decking and classic railings — along with the elegant post lighting. They also worked with me to keep the project within my budget. Kim was great at getting the deck samples I needed to make sure I was happy with my decision. In each communication, the entire team was professional and kind — and toward the end of the project when most contractors just want to move on to another job, Story Custom Decks heard my concerns and went above and beyond to make sure I was more than satisfied. I am confident that should any issue arise in the future with materials, they would stand behind their work and make it right. That’s why I have no problem recommending them as a great business to work with!

Unbelievably high prices! After requesting a quote for a 480 sqft floating deck, I was shocked to be quoted a staggering 100k. This pricing is completely out of line with industry standards and common sense. I’ve since reached out to multiple other deck builders who have provided quotes at a fraction of this cost for similar projects. It’s clear this company is either grossly overcharging or lacks transparency in their pricing structure. Potential customers, please beware and do your research before committing to such exorbitant fees. This experience has left me feeling exploited and deeply disappointed.

Story Custom Decks did a fantastic job replacing our back porch and front steps and landing! The back porch was in terrible shape after 20+ years and the crew came out and quickly tore down the old porch to build the new one. They made the new one much more sturdy and safe for our family. The front porch steps and landing were also rotting. They built up our sidewalk and replaced it all very quickly. They were very attentive to details and made sure the job was done correctly. We couldn’t be happier!

Ben Story and his team at Story Custom Decks are rockstars! Knowledgeable about every step of the process, and very clean and orderly! Answered all my questions and. made the permitting process a snap! My deck is beautiful and my family loves spending time out there now! My parents are getting older and their deck is falling apart, will definitely have him out soon to give us a quote for that as well!

When a tree crashed through our deck after a bad storm, my husband and I were suddenly tasked with finding a reliable company to handle the rebuild. After receiving several quotes from companies big and small, we were immediately drawn to Ben and the Story Custom Decks team. We could tell from our initial interaction that not only would the work be done to the highest level of craftsmanship, but that we would also be getting the personalized and focused attention of the whole team. Having to deal with our insurance was the hardest part of the process – but from the moment we signed our contract, it was the easiest decision we made. From demolition to completion, we could count on Ben and his team to be on site every day. If we ever had a question or concern, we were able to voice it directly to Ben and always received an immediate answer. Our deck was finalized within the original timeframe and to a level of quality that exceeded our expectations.
