Stephen, the owner of Seltec, is a prime example of what hard work, determination, and outstanding work ethic, looks like. We had Stephen install a Kohler 26kw generator in March and couldn’t be happier with the final results. Stephen explained everything, from the selection of pipes used for the gas line, conduit for the electric lines, the updates he made in our control panel, and why he chose what he did. Along the way, Stephen also noticed a multiple “out of code” items that the previous homeowner fiddled with, and corrected them without charging extra . Upon inspection time by the city, the inspector signed off on everything, with flying colors. Placing a generator in the backyard is the easy part, however, running 100 feet of gas line on the outside of the home, under patios, with dozens of angles and bends, is where having Stephen, along with his thought process, is a must. I received 3 quotes, including Seltec’s, before making the decision to proceed with Stephen. One of the quotes was astronomically high, using an inferior brand generator, while another quote was about similar with Stephens, however, the similar quote was also using an inferior brand. Kohler appears to be a superior generator, in regards to quality, sound suppression, maintenance, and warranty. The fit and finish, from the generator itself, to the installation process, is top tier. He’s respectable, engages in conversation on what he’s doing (either from me, or my 12-year-old son, polite, and even more important, honest. He’s upfront, educates, does exactly what he says, doesn’t take shortcuts, and believes in his product. I’d hire him again tomorrow, if I was to do it all over again.

Stephen fixed our 14 year old Kohler generator that had behaved oddly over the winter months with power outages. Sometimes it would start and sometimes not, but nothing predictable. Thankfully it chose the late winter before dying entirely. I had another company out to diagnose the problem, and they said it was probably the starter. Unfortunately, WEEKS went by with no word from the other company on a plan to get another starter, what to expect for a time line to fix it…no response at all to my weekly queries on the status of getting the generator fixed. So I called Kohler and they recommended Seltec whom I called that day, a Tuesday. He was out to look at it on Friday, and he FIXED it!!!! Problem was not the starter but something else that had gotten just enough off balance so that the generator wouldn’t start. Something that only an experienced person would figure out. I am enormously grateful that he responded promptly to me, came out so quickly, AND fixed the generator. He also went ahead and did the 100 hour tune-up on it. Charged an extremely fair price, and the generator now works! I am thrilled and thankful.

We hired Stephen at Seltec to install a new Kohler generator. We replaced our old Generac unit, and Stephen figured out how to use the existing Generac transfer switch with the new Kohler, saving us thousands of dollars. None of the other dealers I got quotes from would do this… Instead, they all wanted to sell me a new switch. Not only did Stephen give us a very competitive price that beat all the others, but he is a master electrician and knows his stuff. We got our new Kohler installed months before the other dealers could even get the parts. I highly recommend this dealer as we are pleased with the product and service. Based on days of research, we went with the Kohler brand because the engine is made in the USA, whereas Generac engines are made in China. I’ve also seen enough reviews of people who purchased a new Generac, and the engine blew up on the first start. They have some significant issues, and so for us, Kohler was the clear winner, and combined with Seltec doing the install, it was all very smooth. Thank you, Stephen, for everything!

Stephen is an awesome contractor. One of the rare companies I have worked with that does what he says and does a quality job. My project had a few surprises (my issues) but Stephen fixed them all without any additional costs. He even cleaned up after himself and let the site in better condition than when we started. I highly recommend Seltec Electrical Services for any Kohler Generator or electrical needs.

Very honest and up front. I called to hire for a job I was not comfortable with. I have wired many sheds and out bulidings but needed help with a panel. Instead of charging me, the gentleman took about 5 mins to explain what I didn’t understand. Great contractor!!!

Steve did a solid, thorough job as promosed, on short notice, with expert knowledge of regulartory codes. We had a new hot tub installed, with concerns that the prior wiring be safe for our grandchildren. Steve was especially expert on codes and on safety, and offered some good ideas and advice. In addition, he discovered some other, unrelated electrical issues left by prior electricians that needed corrected, which he did. We would definitely try to hire him next time, and recommend him without reservation. He is especially expert and experienced, too, on backup generator systems.

Stephen came through on time with our project, but there were a few problems with the work done. It was a large project to move the main panel to a new building and underground the old above ground wiring. If more conduit had been planned to go through the concrete, it wouldn’t have been necessary to build the stone wall on the front of the building around the above ground entrance of the conduit. Also Stephen had to punch a hole in the new metal arch building to connect the new propane generator we purchased from him, voiding the warranty on the building. Then it failed the inspection and he had to jackhammer a hole in the new concrete to connect to the rebar for safe grounding. We had to repair the damage to the concrete after he left. The biggest complaint was that he ran the new conduit into the house through the 42 year old meter box at six feet above ground after the rest of the wiring had been under grounded. When we questioned him on it, he said “It’s not my job to make it look good, just to have it pass inspection.” As home owners, we are not versed in the options available for aesthetics and could have welcomed constructive ideas. Unfortunately Stephen was not a good communicator, either in planning for the conduit entrances to the new building or solutions for the meter box. Now we are paying another company to come out and remove the ugly and crooked electrical entrance to our home.

We hired Stephen to run power to our outbuilding and were very pleased with his work, as well as his knowledge of the code requirements for this type of electrical project. His understanding of the electrical code is very solid, and he is reasonably priced and puts safety first. We also hired him to wire our power to our hot-tub, and he did an excellent job and worked with our schedule to make sure it was completed and operational the day we had it delivered. Stephen is arguably the most honest and trustworthy business man out there. He also emphasizes safety over anything else, which I believe is very important when it comes to your heating and electricity. I have been doing business with him for a long time and would never think about having anyone else help me with my electrical needs.
