For reasons I won’t go in to here, had to on board a new landscaper partner on behalf of my ex wife for her Chatham Borough house… John Cardinal of Cardinal Landscaping Services of Madison NJ has been servicing Madison-Chatham-Florham Park neighbors—homeowners and business owners alike—for 30 years…and there’s good reason why Cardinal Landscaping has crossed three decades…their service is EXCEPTIONAL. Starting with our unscheduled intake call…John was/is pleasant, patient, diligent and friendly. The job itself was/is relatively basic and straightforward…but the backyard presents a few curveballs. In any case, John took time out himself to walk the property—again, this is a basic lawn cut job, a walk thru probably not necessary. When I asked John as regards…he said it’s the way he’s always done it, even for the smallest of patches of grass—ensures full alignment between homeowner-landscaper-crew. As far as the work itself…The crew arrived in the estimated time zone. They were/are courteous but focussed, diligent and efficient. The front lawn looks the best it ever has—perfect height, edging great, no cut grass mess (at all!). And, those backyard curveballs I thought might pose a small challenge—NOT A PROBLEM .The backyard looks GORGEOUS…until now, we were resigned it just wasn’t likely to be. Really can’t describe just how thoroughly pleased and happy we are with CARDINAL LANDSCAPING. John did an excellent job of maintaining our property including cleaning it up, laying grass seed and lawn treatments, doing weekly cutting, and even snow removal. John was always very responsive – you could count on him to return phone calls and messages. When something needed more immediate attention, he was always there. John’s pricing was reasonable and his plans were always documented very professionally and you could tell me took great care it would he proposed.

I would highly recommend John and his crew. They did an outstanding job putting in drains and were very neat and meticulous. A great price as well. He will be my go-to landscaper from now on.

Contacted the owner in mid June by phone. Spoke to him at length about what my lawn needs were, indicating where I lived as well. John, the owner, indicated he couldn’t make it on Saturday, as he had a few jobs he was trying to get to, but that I should send my contact info to his phone by text. He confirmed his phone. A couple days later I sent my first text to him with my contact information asking when he could come by. No answer. A couple of days later I sent another text to him asking when he could come by for an estimate. No answer. Sent another text a couple days later. Still, no answer. Then i went to the website and submitted a form for a free estimate/consultation. No one got back to me. Horrible the way these landscapers think our time is not as valuable as theirs. Will not recommend him in the future.

We started using Cardinal in Chatham Borough, per referral, in 2013, and it was the best move we could have made in terms of keeping our property beautiful. John and his crew did everything… Installed a dry well; fixed patios and walkways; installed walkways; planted trees and shrubs; took care of the lawn; and performed autumn leaf service. Always punctual, available, reliable, and professional. I can’t recommend Cardinal highly enough. You won’t be disappointed.

I hired Cardinal landscaping to install a patio in my backyard. They were responsive and helped us pick out the product and we were super happy with the recommendation. They came when they said they would and there were no hidden or extra charges like other companies. They also Finished very quickly and the finished product looks beautiful. We really appreciated how well they cleaned up too. Some companies leave a mess but not them. I HIGHLY recommend them for a patio installation.

John and his team are simply incredible! Not only did they do a beautiful and amazingly thorough job with our landscaping, but they were quick, communicative and just overall professionals. Our property looks fantastic and we will most definitely be doing business with them again. There is no better option in our opinion.
