I am really pleased with the work Georgian Landscape Design did recently outside our home. We hired them for a consultation quote not really having much of an idea of what to do with the property other than definitely wanting new sod and cleanup work done, but Philip came in and was extremely knowledgeable about existing plants and possibilities to improve the property. The quote provided was itemized and thorough, and we were confident that if we chose them we knew what we were getting which is not common with many other home service providers. They spent several days cleaning up, trimming, and removing some existing plants that were older and overgrown. Then they properly prepped the lawn for new sod. They brought in soil conditioner and around new 200 plants (some larger, some ground cover) to redo some flower beds and improve others. They fixed some drain pipes that were not functioning and buried others as needed to get them out of flower beds. Sod and mulch everywhere at the end. It’s been about a month since the work completed and for the most part everything has been great since. The sod is doing extremely well except in a couple small areas that I believe will grow in. The majority of the plants are doing great, although there are maybe 5-7 that are struggling a little bit (half of those may not make it, the others I think will). Given my poor ability to maintain plants historically and the number brought in by GLD, this isn’t unreasonable especially given long stretches of 95+ temperatures without rain for the first three weeks. Even though GLD cost more than our other quotes, we are really pleased with the work and would gladly hire them again for our next large landscape project.

We contracted with Georgian Landscape Design already having some idea of their work quality. We had heard good things from neighbors about them and had seen work that they had done around our neighborhood. We are very pleased by the work they did for us. The work that they did for us exceeded our expectations. They did the work fast, competently and at a competitive price. Company management and work site managers were easy to work with, listened and helped us to keep things on track. Our job site leader Diego really added to the process by giving us suggestions on how to make the finished result just what we wanted. His team worked well under his direction. From start to finish Georgian Landscape Design stayed on top of things. Finally, yes, we would recommend Georgian Landscape Design to others. Philip and his team just completed the design, sod install, path install, pergola, fencing, tree removal, re-grading, tree/planting, dry ponds, and stone hardscape of our property. We are thrilled with our completed projects. Some qualities of Philip that standout are his communication, availability, creativity, design skills, execution, and enthusiasm. Philip works closely with Kevin who implements his vision. Kevin is approachable and kind while prioritizing the highest of quality work. Together they make a phenomenal team. We would absolutely recommend this company for any landscaping project.

I started my backyard project with this company in July 2022. The good: The project manager was responsive before and during the project and provided answers to any questions I needed. The actual work went efficiently. The crew was scheduled for a 7 day period to have access to my property. They stayed on schedule and cleaned up as they worked and did a great cleanup job after they finished. The retaining wall and drainage system for it were excellent. The lighting package for the wall was nice as well. A nice variety of plants, a few trees and ornamental grasses were chosen for my plant budget. A fence built around my pool equipment was well done. The bad: As they started the actual work I started to see that the 3-D rendering and plan was not going to be actually what I’m getting. For example the retaining wall height would be have to be changed from the initial design and done in stepped up sections due to requirement of permit issues from what I was told. Part of the retaining wall on the design was changed to landscaping and sod by the work crew. I can understand that the artist doing the rendering is not the one on the ground doing the actual labor, but still a concern. There was a slight snag with the final payment. The agreement/contract stated that back end payment would need to be submitted once the project was completed and we look over everything. Most of the work ended on a Friday but some additional sod work and fence had to be pushed to the following Monday. I was asked by my rep if I I could make the payment on that Friday before completion so they could make payroll for their employees. I was a little concerned about this with the amount being over $20k and I would need to hope they complete the work and fix any issues, though I had paid in full already. I did the payment anyway and they did indeed complete the work on Monday morning but still something that had to be addressed. The ugly: The plants that were chosen for the yard were not really explained to me as far as the names of them or any care instructions besides just to water regularly. I had to go online and look up the various plants and best practices for care/fertilization and pruning. Many of the hydrangeas did not make it through the first year and I bought replacements, one of the dogwood trees died within the 1st year as well and I bought a replacement. The ornamental grasses lining some of the steps all died possibly due to placement on a slope where there is a lack of sun. The sod was great the first year, but dying out in many parts of the lawn as well as water pooling in areas where the new landscaping was done. This is despite weekly professional lawn care service and proper lawn treatment and aeration service. I wanted to give it time to possibly recover but got worse over time. I questioned my lawn service and lawn treatment company as to why this was happening, and they stated there were likely issues with drainage and excessive shade in certain areas of the lawn. I called Georgian Landscape in March 2024 about this to come back out and take a look and see what options I have. When a new rep came out they determined that the initial rep installed the wrong type of sod for my lawn and should have chosen a different type of zoysia that was more shade resistant. The best solution they came up with was to re-sod the entire yard again as not to mix up 2 different zoysias. The new rep also saw the drainage issues from how the new lawn grading was designed and sloped to cause erosion/pooling, but did not get back to me about any solution. These would be expensive fixes that are due to the work and recommendation of the company but I asked for an estimate anyway and what the company could offer that was fair. Since April 2024 I have reached out to the rep as well as the office directly multiple times (as recently as 5/6/2024) and get no response or that someone would get back to me soon. I was hoping for a better path forward but I will likely have to find another company and pay to fix the ongoing issues that I am left with.

Philip was fantastic!! He provided excellent and professional advice for our backyard landscaping project. His communication was clear and timely. The guys did a wonderful and very professional job removing trees, grading the yard and laying sod. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure the project was a success. I would definitely recommend Philip and Georgian Landscape Design.
