Sergio of Able Handyman is incompetent and dishonest. I recently learned how bad his work was when another handyman revealed to me the shocking flaws and overcharges from Sergio when the new handyman had to repair Sergio’s poor work. Zero stars if I could! A few months ago I found Sergio online and hired him to reinforce the shelves on two tall solid oak bookcases using big metal brackets and screws under each shelf with 5 shelves on each of the two bookcases. The bookcases are heavy with a great deal of sheet music and books; I needed the shelves to be solidly supported. Sergio worked for 3 hours, I paid him over $300, and at the time he finished, not knowing what flaws would be revealed later, I was very happy. This week, one of the shelves collapsed. The new handyman re-did the entire job for every shelf on both bookcases. In both instances, I supplied the handymen with an ample supply of brackets and screws. The new handyman told me that 21 screws were missing and not installed!! Instead, Sergio put either NOTHING in the brackets or he substituted the little pins that came with bookcase under the shelves that are designed to choose the height of the shelves; those little pins are not intended to be sufficient supporters for a heavy load of sheet music and books. The new handyman did the same work assignment that Sergio charged me for 3 hours to do in only 40 minutes with inserting ALL the screws correctly! His fee was less than 1/3 of Sergio’s fee! And to top it off, I chose Sergio because his address was listed online as Monterey Blvd., a stone’s throw from my house and I remember now that Sergio mentioned that he actually lives in the East Bay in Richmond, not in San Francisco. Sergio of Able Handyman is a dishonest con man. Do not hire him!

Their truck ran a stop sign and nearly hit me.
